Black Lives Matters billboards from Amazon, Netflix, Twitter and more in the skies of L.A...

Daily Billboard always wants to reflect the world we live in and somehow capture this moment in time by showcasing the billboards that fill the city skyline, just like when we supported the #MeToo and Time's Up movement, so today this post is dedicated to the Black Lives Matter movement.
Following the brutal killing of George Floyd by the police on May 25, 2020, millions took to the streets all across the U.S. and around the globe in an uprising to vent their frustration, sorrow and anger, demanding justice and sending out a clarion call to take on systemic racism in America.

With death after senseless death - the knee to the neck of George Floyd, the shooting of Breonna Taylor in her own home, the shooting of Ahmaud Arbery whilst out jogging, the countless others, people have had enough.
And finally it seemed that (some) white people could also start to see their privilege, how deeply racism was embedded in our society and what people of colour experience on a daily basis.

Individuals, local governments and corporations vowed to do better, and what you see collected here are some examples of the visible support in the skies of Los Angeles.
Amazon Studios and Prime Video vow to 'Amplify Black Voices' with these powerful billboards of the recent protests photographed along Santa Monica Boulevard, Fairfax Avenue and La Brea Avenue on June 8 and 9, 2020.

Let's see if this commitment to change is reflected in front of and behind the camera on the streaming platform and on the big screen.
In recent weeks streaming giant Netflix also showed their support for the cause by curating a Black Lives Matter Collection of their content.
The streamer also followed up with this outdoor campaign showcasing some of their television shows, film and documentaries, like the comedy series Dear White People, the mini-series drama about the Exonerated Five - When They See Us, Ava DuVernay's Emmy-winning 13th documentary and Spike Lee's new movie, Da 5 Bloods.
These evocative Netflix billboards were snapped along Sunset Boulevard, Olympic Boulevard and 3rd Street on July 8 and 9, 2020.
The protests also took place during Pride Month, the whole LGBTQ+ movement was started by transgender women of colour taking a stand against police harassment at the Stonewall Inn in New York City over fifty years ago.
Netflix's rebooted Queer Eye series pays tribute to the BLM movement and all the black trans, gay, lesbian, nonbinary, bisexual and queer lives that also matter, and was spied above Westwood Boulevard on July 9, 2020.
Social media network Twitter was also amplifying the voices of black people with a series of billboards around the streets of L.A.
Whether it was championing black trans women and celebrating black creativity, or making sure people know the difference between fetishizing black culture and supporting it.
These user-generated Twitter post billboards were spotted along La Cienega Boulevard, Beverly Boulevard and La Brea Avenue from July 8 to 9, 2020.
Cactus Jack Records, founded by rapper Travis Scott, was also reflecting recent events with this protest-themed billboard spied above West Hollywood's Sunset Plaza on July 8, 2020.
Meanwhile this powerful billboard featuring the names of black lives lost to police violence and racism was captured above the Undefeated store along L.A.'s La Brea Avenue on June 18, 2020.
Eric Garner, Ezell Ford, Michelle Cusseaux, Tanisha Anderson, Tamir Rice, Natasha McKenna, Walter Scott, Bettie Jones, Philando Castile, Botham Jean, Atatiana Jefferson, Eric Reason, Dominique Clayton, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd - and let's not forget all the transgender people of colour being slain across the country this year.
When the current administration ran for office and then took power, it stoked the fans of divisiveness, championing White Supremacists and Nazis and demonizing Muslims, immigrants and people of colour.

This led to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation to take a 'Stand Against Hate' with this Stars and Stripes ad creative photographed along Highland Avenue on August 27, 2017.
In the wake of the recent protests, the charitable organisation is also in the skies promoting the concept that racism is a public health issue, and this billboard was snapped along La Brea Avenue on July 9, 2020.
To close today here's also an uplifting painted wall mural to capture recent events in Los Angeles, and across the country, which was photographed along West Hollywood's Sunset Boulevard in the empty lot next to the Laugh Factory on July 8, 2020.

Emergency medical technician Breonna Taylor's Louisville police officer killers have still not been arrested for her death, black people are still being shot and killed by police officers, we still have to see if governments, corporations and entertainment companies will honour their commitments to black people, and there's still so much work to be done. But this time it feels different.

No justice, no peace. Because Black Lives Matter.
