"Couples Retreat" Review

Couples Retreat Review:

Alright, my boyfriend and I were both really excited to see this Movie, however, I have to admit I am a bit disappointed. It is definitely not what I expected, I mean, I thought since it was written by John Favreau and Vince Vaughn that it would be absolutely hilarious! Well, needless to say I didn't laugh near as much as I feel I should have since the movie had been written by such funny men.

Not to say that the movie was all bad, I just wouldn't categorize this movie as a comedy. I would say this is more of a drama/comedy/chick flick. I thought this would have been a movie that my boyrfriend and I would both enjoy, but it turned out to be more of a girl friendly movie with couples talking about their feelings and working on their relationships in a delightfully funny way.

Ok, now that I have thoroughly confused you I will give you a brief synopsis of this movie.

Couples Retreat Synopsis (General Idea Spoiler Alert):

The story begins with Jason (Jason Bateman) and Cynthia (Kristen Bell) who are contemplating a divorce and have asked their friends to accompany them on a Couples Retreat in order to afford it with the group rate. They lure their friends on the retreat promising them jet skiing, scuba diving, hiking, relaxing, and absolutely know therapy or couple building activities whatsoever. However, when they arrive, they are all put on the strict couples therapy plan that they must follow or they will be kicked out. Everyone on the retreat goes through ups and downs with their significant other, along with a few other escapades that will give you a good laugh. The movie is filled with a star studded cast including: Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau, and Kristen Davis.

Now, I will tell you that I do not recommend this movie for the male viewer, I have a feeling if you and your significant other try and watch this movie together, he will be asleep within the first hour. However, I would recommend it to you female viewers looking for a new pretty good romantic comedy. While it won't have you rolling on the floor, it will keep you entertained and it definitely has it's comedic moments. :-)
