This very spirited image is, in a sense, producing in a nutshell. If you aren't "shtupping" someone for money, than you are entertaining them!
For starters, what better occupation to have in the world? The Producer is the "director behind the director". He is, for all intents and purposes, God. Not literally, of course. I would never be so crass. But, producers do shape much of our world. A great example is the Star Trek series. How we live today is totally formed, and inspired by this romanticized science fiction epic. The computer or cell phone that you are reading this blog on was inspired by Star Trek in some way, weather it be major, or minor. Is the iPhone not a communicator? Do we not beam information around the world? Take a look at automobile design. The current CUBE is a nice healthy mix of Back to the Future Part II, and Total Recall.
So, weather directly, or indirectly, a producer has incredible control over how we live, eat, interact, play, work, and generally be in society.
If you have ever played a video game, than you know what it means to be a master of your world.
Much of my writings will center around the internet, and what it means to play in our (to coin an old Disney term), "Global Neighborhood". As a side-note, the Imagineers who created Spaceship Earth didn't do so badly, in terms of their predictions of the future!
In front of you, right this second, you have tremendous power. You have the ability to reach people across our globe, in every language, every second, of every day. This is every marketer's Dream come true. Personally, I find great satisfaction in knowing that I have such control. It makes my hairs stand on end in excitement!
Hopefully, you are creative sort, with lots of ideas! Do you write? Take photos? Compose music? Design graphics? Sing? Whatever you do. Just, GET IT OUT THERE! Too often, I am not entirely sure that folks understand the sheer power at their fingertips.
As children, we often dreamt of being masters of the universe, king, queen, lord high alien, or what have you. Try and remember such playful energy, and put it in a place where you could perhaps make a buck off of it. Who wants to answer to a boss? No one. You don't need very much to get your ideas out there. A computer, a few good programs and some time is all it really takes.
