It’s a lovely day! Gabrielle Union and husband Dwayne Wade welcomed their first child together, a baby girl, via surrogate.
Union announced the news on Thursday, November 8 via Instagram sharing a picture of the new parents with their bundle of joy. Quoting a Bill Withers song ‘Lovely Day’, the actress started off by reciting the beginning of the iconic song.

Gabrielle Union went on to write, “We are sleepless and delirious but so excited to share that our miracle baby arrived last night via surrogate and 11/7 will forever be etched in our hearts as the most loveliest of all the lovely days.”
She ended by saying to her daughter, “Welcome to the party sweet girl!”.
This is the first child for Union, 46. She is a stepmom to her NBA hubby three son’s that he has from previous relationships, Zaire, 16, Zion, 11, and Xavier, 4. The basketball star’s nephew Dahveon Morris, 17, also lives with the family.
The Being Mary Jane star is no stranger to fertility struggles. Union revealed in her 2017 book, We’re Going to Need More Wine, that she had been trying to conceive for years and had not been successful. “I had eight or nine miscarriages. For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant — I’ve either been about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle, or coming out of an IVF cycle.”

She went on to write, “For so many women, and not just women in the spotlight, people feel very entitled to know, ‘Do you want kids?’ A lot of people, especially people that have fertility issues, just say ‘no’ because that’s a lot easier than being honest about whatever is actually going on. People mean so well, but they have no idea the harm or frustration it can cause.”
Union and Wade, 36, tied the knot in August 2014. Even though they had multiple failed attempts at conceiving a child together the couple remained committed to bringing a child of their own into the world. In her memoir, Union said she and Wade, “remain bursting with love and ready to do anything to meet the child we’ve both dreamed of.”
