After much excitement, ABS-CBN revealed on Friday the big news that Janella Salvador will be playing the role of Valentina (the main villain) in the upcoming television series adaptation of Mars Ravelo's Darna.

Several names were rumored to have auditioned and passed, among them Janine Gutierrez and Yassi Pressman. It was Janella, however, who got the nod of the Kapamilya Network to play the villainess to Jane De Leon's Narda/Darna character.
Also in the cast of the ABS-CBN adaptation are Joshua Garcia as Brian Samonte Robles, the love interest of Narda, and Zaijian Jaranilla as Ricardo "Ding" Custodio as Narda's brother and sidekick.
Iza Calzado will also play a guest role as Narda and Ding's mother. She is the first Darna who will pass on the "magical stone" to her daughter.
The much-awaited superhero series is directed by Chito S. Rono.
