Food Wars chapter 263 seems to be the end of this story arc with Erina's father and the elite ten. It truly was an exciting story arc. It was full of twists and turns. I love the fact that it wasn't predictable. The rebel alliance didn't win every shokugeki.
Honestly, I don't think they deserve to be students at that school anymore either. But we all know that they won't be expelled. They should be though but Souma has the annoying habit of trying to make even his enemies his friends. If the subject of their expulsion came up he would protest it. Anyway, I am just happy they will no longer have any power over the school anymore. They received their just desserts.
Erina was a good teacher but she can't inspire people the way Souma can. She is a perfect fit to be the next director of the school. I mean the position was going to fall to her anyway. It just happened a lot sooner. There was nothing left for her to learn anyway. My question is how long will they be the new elite ten? They are the ones that saved the school I think they should be the elite ten for a while.
The Former Elite Ten
I like that the story wasn't dragged out. This was a good story arc. But I am also glad that it is over. I am looking forward to the next phase of Food Wars. I am so happy that the previous elite ten is gone. It was truly messed up what they did. The fact that they didn't care about anyone else but themselves says a lot. They didn't care what it would do to Erina or the rebel alliance. So to me, they didn't deserve to have those chairs anymore.Honestly, I don't think they deserve to be students at that school anymore either. But we all know that they won't be expelled. The New Elite Ten
I am happy that Souma and the rebel alliance will be the next elite ten. Once you think about it Souma is the perfect choice for the first seat. Souma is like his dad in so many ways. His dad was able to inspire those around him. Souma did the same thing. Every member of the rebel alliance was inspired by Souma in some way. He helped them to elevate their cooking. He gave them the confidence to go higher. He is the backbone of that group, not Erina.Erina was a good teacher but she can't inspire people the way Souma can. She is a perfect fit to be the next director of the school. I mean the position was going to fall to her anyway. It just happened a lot sooner. There was nothing left for her to learn anyway. My question is how long will they be the new elite ten? They are the ones that saved the school I think they should be the elite ten for a while.
Conclusion
I really enjoyed this chapter and the story arc overall. I am happy they won. I am even happier that the former elite ten is gone. I was never of a fan of theirs. I can't stand food snobs. That's why Souma is perfect to lead the new ones. He can show them that fine dining and haute cuisine isn't the only food there is. Delicious food comes in a variety of ways.
The only thing I didn't like about the story arc is how they tried to force Erina and Souma as a couple. I do not ship them at all. It is just too obvious. I can't stand forced ships like that. They are way too forced. There isn't a romantic spark there. But more than likely they will end up together. Personally, I ship him and Tadokoro. They seem more natural. Like they just fit together.
