Horror is such a versatile genre and if you are creative enough you don’t really need much to make something creepy or scary.

The internet is full of them and surprisingly enough most of them are pretty decent. There is something about having them in such a small format they manage to paint very vivid pictures. Below I’ll share some of my favorites which I managed to find on thoughtcatalog, quora and a few other sites:

You hear your mom calling you into the kitchen. As you are heading down the stairs you hear a whisper from the closet saying “Don’t go down there honey, I heard it too.”

My daughter won’t stop crying and screaming in the middle of the night. I visit her grave and ask her to stop, but it doesn’t help.

My wife woke me up last night to tell me that there is an intruder in our house. She was murdered by an intruder 2 years ago.

I was having a pleasant dream when what sounded like hammering woke me. After that, I could barely hear the muffled sound of dirt covering the coffin over my own screams.

I never go to sleep. But I keep waking up.

Grandpa died smoking a cigar in his favorite chair. We got a new one but from the ash marks he leaves behind he has a new favorite chair.

‘Please stop,” I whimpered as he fastened my other arm to the table, “if you let me go, I won’t tell anyone”. He looked up at me with a wicked smile “how do you think I got you? They gave you to me.’

I can’t move, breathe, speak or hear and it’s so dark all the time. If I knew it would be this lonely, I would have been cremated instead.

I’d always loved red roses, but I am scared of them now; specially the ones that mysteriously appeared on my table, minutes after I had put them on the grave of my dead husband.

My wife keeps trying to convince me that our daughter passed away 2 years ago. As we argue, a small voice asks me, “Who are you talking to, Daddy?”

They may be short and simplistic but they still hit the nail on the head perfectly.
