The pageant name is one that could have been a major competition. It has been founded in 1975, which could have given the pageant historical leverage like Miss International.
But due to some misfortunes, Miss Globe’s promise has been overshadowed by younger pageants like Miss Earth and Miss Supranational. While the pageant has been consistently held, the confusion as to the pageant’s ownership has hindered it to level up and become a major pageant.
The pageant was founded by Charlie See in 1975. The Miss Globe trademark was in fact registered that year in the Bureau of Patents and Trademarks in Washington, District of Columbia. But it was only in 1988 that the pageant has started its annual competition and crowned winners.
Unfortunately, the pageant was split into three in 2010. The Miss Globe International pageant based in Turkey was started by RCA Global Entertainment Co. and organized by Rasim Aydın. Another one was started in Albania which is being produced by Deliart Association and Petri Bozo.
The third one is also being held in Panama which is owned by World Beauty Organization, which is headed by Luis Pitti Sagrera.
In 2016, another organization started a Miss Globe Pageant, adding to the confusion which is already at hand. This Miss Globe pageant was started by Albert Xhaferri and Dickson Ng, who are based in Ontario, Canada.
As of this writing, the Miss Globe pageant has four versions and all claiming to be the rightful holder of the patent originally registered by Charlie See.
While we support the pageant, being part of the Next 5, this confusion as to the legal owner of the name and trademark have placed the pageant in limbo. Moreover, it has endangered the pageant’s place in the Next 5.
