Miss Côte d’Ivoire 2017 is Mandjalia Gbané

Mandjalia Gbané is crowned Miss Côte d’Ivoire 2017 in a magnificent finals night held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

A Commercial Management student, the 19-year-old Mandjalia Gbané bested 25 other women from across this African nation and went home with the crown and title, plus the right to represent her country at Miss World 2017 in Sanya, China.She was crowned by the outgoing queen, Miss Côte d’Ivoire 2016 Esther Memel.

A favorite early in the pageant, Mandjalia Gbané will try to bring home the first Miss World victory for her country. Her runners-up were Darlène Kassem (1st runner-up), Ericka Konaté (2nd runner-up), Elena Sanogo (3rd runner-up), and Carole Koffi (4th runner-up).

The Miss Côte d’Ivoire has been the premiere beauty pageant in the country. It was formed in 1956 but the present organization is mainly comprised of the team placed in 1996.

In 1985, Côte d’Ivoire debuted at Miss World 1985. The next year, the organization sent delegates to Miss Universe 1986 and Miss International 1986. Unfortunately, Côte d’Ivoire decided to send another delegate to Miss Universe after sending its first one to Panama in 1986.

In 2009, Miss Cote d’Ivoire returned at Miss World 2009 in South Africa.
