And the first step to getting that is to choose the right place to register your domain name. Here’s the thing While there are dozens of domain registrars out there… Most of them are pretty bad. They’re slow and clunky.

They upsell you every single time you try to do something. And they have terrible customer support. So how do you find a good registrar? That’s what this post will help you with! I’ve compared 13+ top domain registrars based on my experience as a web developer and written about all the different things you should consider before choosing one (prices, upsells, user interface, support, etc.).

Domain Registrar – Introduction

A domain name registrar is an organization or commercial entity that manages the reservation of Internet domain names. A domain name registrar must be accredited by a generic top-level domain (gTLD) registry and/or a country code top-level domain (ccTLD) registry.

A registrar operates in accordance with the guidelines of the designated domain name registries. Registrars Offer registration through reseller affiliates. Most registrars, like GoDaddy and NameCheap, are not affiliated with a particular registry operator.

They sell domains on behalf of one or more registry operators and for many top-level domains. These registrars must pay fees to the respective registry operators for each domain name registered to cover the costs of operating and maintaining the registry databases.

An ICANN Accredited Registrar is solely responsible for managing its customers’ contacts, name servers and other information required for their domains to work properly on the Internet. The quality of service provided by individual ICANN Accredited Registrars varies widely, so consumers are encouraged to do some research before choosing one.

What Are the Best Domain Registrars?

If you’ve ever tried to register a domain name, you’ve probably been shocked by the price. ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) charges a mandatory fee of $0.18 per year for every domain, which is passed on to you by your registrar.

Some registrars add their own fees on top of that. But because the competition among registrars is so fierce, prices can vary wildly.

The best deal for one person might not be the best for someone else — it all depends on your needs and how much you know about domain registration in general. So what makes the best domain registrar? Here are some things to look for:

Pricing and Value. If you’re registering a domain just to hold onto it or if you only need one domain, then price will be your number-one concern.

However, if you’re registering multiple domains at once or if you plan to continue growing your portfolio over time, then value becomes an issue. If a registrar offers free extras such as an SSL certificate or privacy protection, that might outweigh a lower price elsewhere.

User Experience. This category is less important when buying a single domain but becomes more critical when dealing with multiple domains at once or over time.

9. Google Domains

Getting a new domain name can be a huge part of starting a website. It’s relatively inexpensive, and you get a web address that will be unique forever. But there are lots of other considerations to consider as well.

For example, you’ll have to choose between GoDaddy, NameCheap, and Zendesk. Some hosting sites include email and search engine optimization tools, while others don’t. And if you’re looking to sell products, you’ll have to decide whether to go with WordPress or Shopify Plus.

A domain name is the web address for your website or blog — so when someone types in “www.yourdomainname.com” into their browser, it will show up on their screen with an address bar that says “yourdomainname.com.”
