What Are thanksgiving movies?

The American holiday of Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of each November. It’s a time for family and friends to gather, give thanks for the harvest, and to enjoy some fantastic food.

With so many Thanksgiving movies out there, it’s hard to know which ones to watch during your Thanksgiving Movie marathon. Here are five movies that will help you get in the spirit of Thanksgiving:

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (1973)

Charlie Brown is invited to his first-ever Thanksgiving dinner, but he’s worried that he won’t fit in with all those jovial adults. Fortunately, Snoopy comes up with a plan to blend in! This animated classic raises important questions about what we’re thankful for and who we’re thankful for it with.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987)

John Candy and Steve Martin star as two travelers who are trying this holiday season. Candy plays Del Griffith—a man determined to get home to Chicago in time for Thanksgiving dinner—and Martin plays Neal Page—a salesman whose life suddenly becomes a living hell after he’s forced to share a tiny hotel room with Del. The Film was directed by John Hughes of “Sixteen Candles” and “The Breakfast Club” fame, and it features cameo appearances from Ed

Best Thanksgiving Movies

There is nothing better than watching a great Thanksgiving movie with the entire family.

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to get the family together and enjoy some quality time. It’s also a great time to watch a movie!

Here are some of the greatest movies to watch during your holiday celebrations:

Bridget Jones’ Diary: If there is one thing we can all agree on, it’s that this Bridget Jones movie is perfect! The story line is well written and very entertaining, it’s filled with unique characters, and the acting is spot on. It’s an easy to watch film that has become a true classic.

Home Alone: This movie has become an absolute classic over the years. Home Alone is one of those movies that will never get old no matter how many times you watch it. You’ve got Macaulay Culkin at his best as Kevin McCallister. He’s such an adorable character who goes through so much hardship in order to protect his home from burglars.

The Holiday: The Holiday is another great film that you won’t want to miss! This romantic comedy follows two women who have been friend for years but never met face-to-face until they decide to swap homes for the holidays.

The Ice Storm (1997)

A couple of years ago, an unusual conversation took place at an Irish pub in New York City. Convened by the director of the Museum of Modern Art, Glenn D. Lowry, it was part of a series of exchanges between critics and artists that have taken place over the last decade.

The topic under discussion was nudity. It was prompted by some work by Kara Walker, the American artist, who was showing at the museum and whose large-scale installations were drawing record crowds.

The critics were all women: Holland Cotter from The New York Times, Deborah Solomon from New York magazine, Roberta Smith from The New York Times and Mary Louise Schumacher from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The artist was Marina Abramovic, a Serbian performance artist who is based in New York and is represented by its most prestigious gallery, Gagosian.

Her assistants had built a wooden platform in the middle of the bar; Abramovic sat on it with her back to them. She wore a see-through black shirt over her naked torso and held a large wooden cross on her lap — “like a saint,” as Cotter put it to me later. Her assistants placed small pieces of paper on each table around the room and asked patrons to write down questions for Abramovic.

Scent of a Woman (1992)

“Scent of a Woman” is a movie about a bunch of jerks who learn life lessons. The main jerk, Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade (Al Pacino), is an obnoxious blind man in his 50s who has been teaching at West Point for 30 years and has never done anything besides that.

He’s full of wisdom and insight, just like people who spend half their lives in academia tend to be, but his methods are questionable. He sleeps with his students, he yells at kids for minor infractions like not washing their hands before dinner, and he flirts with women who aren’t interested in him, since he can’t tell the difference.

When Slade gets court-martialed, he’s forced to defend himself in front of a military tribunal. He brings Charlie Simms (Chris O’Donnell), a student who is also his guide dog, as a witness. This raises the obvious question: What does one do with a blind man’s guide dog while that man is testifying?

This is not the only issue on which “Scent of a Woman” betrays its age. The story begins when Pacino’s character is assigned to go undercover at a prep school for the blind in order to protect a beautiful young woman (Chris O’Donnell) from a stalker. The stalker is an eccentric millionaire (James Rebhorn) who has a fetish for beautiful women, especially those who wear expensive perfume.

Hannah and Her Sisters (1986)

Hannah and Her Sisters is the most mature film of Allen’s career. It was one of his first films to be shot in color and it features a wider range of characters than in any previous work. The film also includes several of his strongest performances: Mia Farrow as Hannah; Michael Caine as her husband Elliot; Dianne Wiest as her sister Lee; and Barbara Hershey as Hannah’s other sister Holly.

The film follows the three sisters over an extended period of time, as they deal with the problems created by their respective husbands. We see Hannah and Elliot begin to grow apart, their marriage slowly falling apart for lack of communication. Lee and her husband Max (Allen) have begun a life together that is successful on the surface, but riddled with unseen emotional conflicts which eventually erupt into open hostility.

Holly is married to the musician Michael (Elias Koteas), who has lost his sense of direction and purpose in life, taking refuge from his own self-loathing only through alcohol.

These are all issues that Allen had dealt with before in his films, but never with this degree of maturity or insight. The dialogue is sharp and funny on the surface, but there is also a layer.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987)

In the movie, John Candy’s character is forced to hitch a ride to Chicago with Steve Martin’s character. Their trip has many trials and tribulations, as Martin’s character is uptight and very particular about his schedule. Candy takes the passenger seat in a rental car and tries to relax while Martin is driving.

Toward the end of the film, they are both tired, hungry and cranky. As the two sit at a stoplight, they get into a heated argument about directions. The lights turn green and Candy cannot see Martin because of his seating position. As he stares at the passenger side mirror, he sees Martins eyes appear right in front of him in that mirror.

Candy then looks in front of him and becomes shocked as he sees Martin sitting behind him as well. The two look at each other momentarily until they realize they are both driving. They simultaneously yell out “I’m driving! I’m driving!” Martin then grabs the steering wheel from Candy, grabs his briefcase from on top of the car, jumps out of the moving vehicle, runs across an empty street and disappears into a corn field.

Smoke pours out from under the hood of their rental car as it screeches to a halt on the sidewalk.

The Big Chill (1983)

“The Big Chill” is a drama about the reunion of a group of former college friends who haven’t seen each other in years. It stars Tom Berenger, Glenn Close, Jeff Goldblum and William Hurt as people from an elite college who meet up again after one of their group commits suicide.

The movie was directed by Lawrence Kasdan and written by Kasdan and his wife Meg, based on her book. Its famous cast also includes JoBeth Williams, Mary Kay Place, Kevin Kline, Meg Tilly and Mary Beth Hurt.

For years it was difficult to find the film on video or DVD because the rights to it belonged to Warner Bros., which hadn’t bothered to issue it because they didn’t think it would sell very well. People who wanted to see it had only two choices: They could rent the laserdisc version (on which many copies have worn out) or they could try to make their own videotape by filming the television screen.

In 2005 Warner finally released a DVD version of “The Big Chill.” However, this new disc is actually a re-release of the old laserdisc. It has been given new packaging but contains no extras at all. The friends recall their personal triumphs and tragedies since graduation.

Jim Henson’s Turkey Hollow (2015)

Jim Henson’s Turkey Hollow is a story that has been passed down through the generations. It’s an old folktale, handed down from father to son, mother to daughter and grandmother to granddaughter as they sit around the fire on a cold winter night.

Told through the eyes of an old man telling a story to his grandchildren, Jim Henson’s Turkey Hollow is the tale of Jack Gobble and his family who live in Turkey Hollow. For the most part, their lives are simple: work hard in the fields, eat often and be kind to one another. The Gobble family has always been known for their big family dinners with all kinds of turkey dishes – from turkey sausage egg and cheese biscuits for breakfast to turkey pot pie for dinner.

One day as spring comes around, Jack Gobble sees a beautiful white turkey hen sitting on her nest in a nearby field. He is immediately smitten by her beauty and her gracefulness as she flies up into a tree to rest. He wonders what it would be like to have such a beautiful bird for his wife so he sets out after her. As he follows her, he forgets about all his chores and now has nothing but thoughts of this beautiful bird woman filling his head.

The War at Home (1996)

In the mid-1990s, the anti-smoking movement in the United States was on a roll. The surgeon general had recently declared nicotine addiction an illness and advised that smokers be treated for it, states and cities were raising cigarette taxes to discourage smoking and the number of smokers had plummeted from more than 40 percent of adults in 1965 to 25 percent by 1993.

“There was a lot of momentum in the early ’90s,” said Kenneth Warner, professor emeritus of public health at the University of Michigan. “It was clear that we were winning.”

But now? While about 42 million Americans still smoke, there are signs that the anti-tobacco movement may have stalled out. After rising gradually from 1980 to 2005, adult smoking rates have leveled off and even declined slightly since 2006.

Many experts attribute this trend to the anti-tobacco movement’s having won most of its battles: Smoking is banned in offices and restaurants; cigarette billboards are mostly gone; cigarette companies cannot advertise on television or radio; and tobacco taxes now bring in billions of dollars a year.

The news media have also contributed — with widely disseminated reports like one published last fall by The New York Times showing that many popular e-cigarettes contained carcinogens, toxic chemicals.

The Myth of Fingerprints (1997)

What is the most common misconception people have regarding fingerprints?

I would say that it is the belief that no two fingerprints are exactly alike. I’ve read this in countless books, seen it on television and movies, and heard it from friends and neighbors.

Even my father, who is a retired police officer, has told me that no two prints are alike. Trying to prove or disprove this theory is about as easy as finding an honest man. Although I doubt that anyone has made a career of collecting fingerprint specimens and comparing them in an attempt to find two identical prints, I do know that numerous researchers have tried to prove or disprove this theory scientifically without success.

One researcher claims to have found a set of identical prints on two different people. In another case, the FBI claimed to have found a perfect match with one exception, an extra ridge line on one print. The opinions of fingerprint experts vary greatly on this subject, but most agree that they have never seen two absolutely identical prints of the same person. Most also agree that it’s highly unlikely that there will ever be such a pair discovered because they would be so rare.

The House of Yes (1997)

A documentary about the underground art scene in New York City. The director’s sister, Ondi Timoner, is a struggling indie filmmaker who gets involved with the artists and their world, which also happens to be her brother’s world. She learns that all of his friends are gay men, and they all have AIDS.

As she tries to make sense of this community and figure out how to tell their story to the rest of the world, she spends time with each person as they die.

There is a real intimacy in the conversations, especially between Ondi and her brother. It is clear that while they are very close, they’ve drifted apart because he doesn’t want to be around his family anymore.

The House Of Yes is good at showing the connections between the various people who populate this world and how these relationships intertwine and affect each other. There are many interviews for this film, but it is clear that most of them are not particularly comfortable being interviewed or on camera.

Because of that discomfort, you don’t get a sense of closure from listening to them speak; it feels raw and invasive to hear them talk about their lives as they face death from AIDS.

The Oath (2018)

The Oath is a 2018 American drama thriller film directed by Ike Barinholtz. It stars Tiffany Haddish, John Cho, Carrie Brownstein, Billy Magnussen and Connie Britton. The film was released on October 12, 2018.

Alice’s Restaurant (1969)

The Alice’s Restaurant Massacree (1969) song was written by Arlo Guthrie and is about a man who is fined for littering when his garbage can tips over into a stream on public property.

In the song, the character attends a trial, where the judge finds him guilty but sentences him to “two years hard” rather than sentencing him to two years in prison. The sentence is served by having the character spend two years working on the town dump.

The song was recorded in 1967 and became an underground hit, with Guthrie performing it at many concerts and even on some television shows. It was finally released on a 1969 album with the title Alice’s Restaurant Massacree. The song became an instant classic and has been covered many times since its release.

The film version of Alice’s Restaurant portrayed Arlo Guthrie being interviewed by members of the press after he returns from his two-year stint at the dump.

The film starred Peter Boyle as Officer Obie, James Broderick as Ray Brower (the boy who accidentally tipped over Arlo’s garbage can), and Victor Lundin as Arlo Guthrie. It also featured Hilarie Thompson as Alice Brock and Pat Quinn as her husband Jeff.

Grumpy Old Men (1993)

Ah, the movies. They cover so many genres, yet they all seem to blend together, don’t they? But every once in a while, there’s a film that breaks the mold. A movie that goes beyond the formula and delivers something fresh and exciting.

The Grumpy Old Men (1993) is one of those films.

Directed by Michael Lehmann, who was no stranger to directing comedies at this point (his resume includes Heathers (1989) , Hudson Hawk (1991) , and Malice (1993) ), the film follows three men (played by Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau, and Ann-Margret) and their longtime friendship.

Lemmon and Matthau play old friends who are still very close, but Ann-Margret’s character is a newcomer to their relationship. She’s Matthau’s live-in nurse/companion and she has brought a breath of fresh air into Lemmon’s life that he hasn’t felt in quite some time.

But as you might expect, things get complicated when Ann-Margret finds herself falling in love with both of them…and they begin to fall for her as well!

This was a great movie! I loved the plot and story line. It was funny and entertaining. I totally recommend this movie to anyone who loves comedy, drama and romance.

Home for the Holidays (1995)

It’s the week before Christmas and a family is getting ready for their annual trip to visit relatives. A father, mother, son and daughter are at the breakfast table talking about their plans for the holidays.

I’m excited about the trip. I just love going home for Christmas, don’t you? Of course, I wouldn’t miss going to see Grandma and Grandpa. But I think it’s great that your parents invited us to spend Christmas at their house this year.

I can’t wait to go shopping in New York. I love looking at all the windows on Fifth Avenue and Rockefeller Center. Of course, I think it’s great that we’re going skiing in Vermont instead of Palm Springs like we did last year. Did you remember to pack your overnight bag?

That’s right, Mom! And I’m really glad that we’re spending New Year’s in San Francisco. It’ll be fun having John and his family over for dinner on New Year’s Eve. After all, we haven’t seen them since they visited us last summer.

Don’t forget to call your aunt tomorrow night when she gets back from her trip. She was so disappointed when she couldn’t make it home for Christmas this year with all of those business trips she has been taking.

Description:Quinton Aaron plays Michael Oher as an adult. Sandra Bullock plays his adoptive mother Leigh Anne Tuohy, who is driven to make sure that he goes to college.

The Vicious Kind (2009)

A couple, Jake and Suzie, are on the verge of splitting when Jake’s (Michael Cera) dad (John Goodman) falls ill.

Description:This was just one of the many films at SXSW that I had never heard of before, but it ended up being one of my favorites. It’s a rather simple story about a young couple who have been together for a while, but they still aren’t married…yet. The movie follows their relationship as it starts to fall apart and then gets put back together again when Jake’s father gets very sick.

Jake and Suzie are wonderfully acted by Michael Cera and Anna Kendrick (who has become one of my favorite actresses). They’re both very funny in general, but also play off of each other perfectly. I also really liked John Goodman as Jake’s father. And if you’re looking for an appearance by Bill Murray, he shows up for about 10 minutes in this film as Jake’s boss at work.

The Vicious Kind is filled with funny moments throughout, but there are also some great emotional scenes as well. Overall it is a wonderful film that I think most people will enjoy. And if you’re looking for something to see with your significant other, this is definitely worth checking out.

You’ve Got Mail (1998)

You’ve Got Mail is a 1998 American romantic comedy film directed by Nora Ephron, written by Nora Ephron and David S. Ward, and starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. The film is about two people in an online romance who are unaware that they are also rival business partners. It was released on June 2, 1998 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The film is notable for being the first to be released simultaneously in regular theaters and on the Internet (at Amazon.com), as well as the first to be released on DVD in which viewers could watch the film while listening to an audio commentary from the director, screenwriter, and other crew members. The movie was shot in New York City and Seattle, Washington.

In 1995, Joe Fox (Tom Hanks) is a successful book publisher in New York City, who has built his company using extensive research of consumer purchasing patterns. He foresees an imminent decline of paper-based media such as books and magazines within ten years due to the explosion of e-commerce –

while at a bookstore one day he meets Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan), a children’s book publisher from Manhattan’s Upper West Side, with whom he begins a regular correspondence by mail.

Hollidaysburg (2014)

Hollidaysburg is a 2014 American found footage horror film. It was released on October 10, 2014 by Magnet Releasing. The film was directed by Blair Erickson and written by Blair Erickson and Jeff Denny. It stars Graham Rogers, Ginger Taylor, and Patrick Renna. It is the first found footage film to be released by Magnet Releasing.

Hollidaysburg is the story of three students from Hollidaysburg High School in Pennsylvania who go missing in the woods near their school’s campus during a storm while shooting their first horror film.

Their parents are called to the school to meet with Principal Fisher (Graham Rogers) and Sheriff Burke (Patrick Renna) where they are told that all of the evidence points towards some type of animal attack having taken place in the forest.

The parents are then told that the bodies of their children will not be recovered due to hazardous conditions in the forest. They are also warned that if they want to keep looking for their children they should do so on their own time and at their own risk because there will be no further help or resources provided by local law enforcement.

The film then cuts over a year later to an interview with Josh (Ginger Taylor) a young woman who insists that she saw her brother, Mat.

Addams Family Values (1993)

The Addams Family is a single-family dwelling belonging to Gomez and Morticia Addams, their children Wednesday and Pugsley, Uncle Fester and Grandmama. It first appeared in the cartoons by Charles Addams, in The New Yorker magazine. The house was a Victorian style mansion located in an unnamed fictional town near New York City.

The Addams Family Mansion has had many incarnations on television, in film, and in print. It has been converted into a hotel, burnt down at least twice, and rebuilt each time.

Since its first appearance in the Charles Addams cartoons of the 1930s, the Mansion has undergone many changes from the original design by Charles Addams to fit different mediums.

The Mansion was originally depicted as a Victorian-style house with a peaked roof and turret on one side. In the 1960s television series it became a large two-story Colonial Revival house with white pillars out front. For the 1991 film it became a large Victorian mansion with stained glass windows and many gables, resembling a cross between an old church and a haunted house.

In the original cartoons and early merchandise the house is depicted as white with black shutters; but in later cartoons it is depicted as black with white shutters.

Tadpole (2002)

The first thing that catches your eye about this movie is its’ amazing cast. Sigourney Weaver and John Ritter are in it! And even though I have never watched the television show on which this movie is based, it does not matter. This movie is brilliant!

The story involves a boy named Henry (played by Aaron Stanford) who cannot get over the death of his mother. His father has remarried and a new stepmother (Sigourney Weaver) has come into his life.

He hates her and he wants her out of his life. And then there’s his father’s beautiful daughter, Elizabeth (played by Amy Smart). All of Henry’s friends fall in love with her, but she despises them all – except for Henry. But what can a boy do when the girl he likes is already in love with his best friend?

I cannot stress enough how good this movie is! It shows the growth of a boy who realizes that death is inevitable and that doesn’t mean you stop living your life. It made me sad because of its’ intensity, but I still loved it!

I highly recommend seeing this movie! If you like family dramas, then you will love Tadpole! It gets 5 stars from me.

Pieces of April (2003)

April Ludgate is a fictional character on the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation portrayed by Aubrey Plaza. She is a cynical and deadpan young woman who lives with her best friend Andy Dwyer. Her family includes her mother, stepfather and two half-siblings, all of whom she resents. Her father left her mother when April was a baby, and she never met him.

Towards the end of season one, April reveals that she has been tutoring Andy in a variety of subjects for some time for no charge. In “Born & Raised,” April reveals to Andy that she does not have as much money as he previously thought because her parents are rich but have been funneling money into an illegal Ponzi scheme run by Alan Garner. After the revelation, April’s parents cut off all financial support for her, leaving her homeless. She decides to move in with Andy at the end of the episode.

In season two, when April tells Leslie that she needs $300 to pay for a new ID so she can get a job, Leslie buys it for her as an anonymous birthday present and April gets a job at City Hall where she becomes Leslie’s assistant/gopher. In “Practice Date,” it is revealed that April dislikes.

Avalon (1990)

“Avalon” is an excellent film, and one of the most underrated of the decade. The plot is simple: a group of friends take a trip to a rock concert, but their car breaks down along the way. They have no choice but to travel by foot, and they soon find themselves lost in the woods.

They eventually meet up with some locals who treat them like kings and show them a good time. But it turns out that there’s more to this strange town than meets the eye…

The movie contains all the elements of a great horror picture: suspense, action, humor, and a few genuine scares. It also features one of my favorite casts of any horror film ever: Crispin Glover, Patricia Kalember, Michael J Fox and Charlie Sheen all star in this film.

The direction by George Miller is solid throughout, with some nice camera work (including a very unusual slow motion sequence) and good use of music. But the greatest strength of this movie lies in its wonderful story; it’s about as creative as you can get for a horror flick!

I highly recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys watching horror flicks. It’s not extremely gory or anything like that, but it does contain some violence.

Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

Miracle on 34th Street (1947) is a wonderfully heartwarming film that I can watch over and over again every year. It’s a timeless tale of the true meaning of Christmas that must be watched by everyone at least once in their lifetime!

Miracle on 34th Street (1947) is a movie that you must see this Christmas season! The story has so many wonderful lessons to teach us about life, love and the true meaning of Christmas. This is the original version and is far better than any remake.

This movie will have you crying happy tears, laughing out loud and touched by the heartfelt message it delivers. Anyone can relate to this movie as it has a message for everyone from children to adults.

This classic film was directed by George Seaton with such amazing cinematography by Frank Arrigo and such an excellent cast including Maureen O’Hara, John Payne, Natalie Wood, Edmund Gwenn and the legendary Edmund Gwenn who gives one of the best performances in this movie as Kris Kringle/Santa Claus.

The story and script were written by Valentine Davies who did an amazing job adapting this timeless tale.

The music was so beautiful and magical that it truly had me mesmerized from the moment I heard it.
