Shade against Mario Lopez (?), Hooters, Mel Gibson, and Harvey Weinstein was thrown around by host Jimmy Kimmel, but these remarks were limited to the show's opening monologue. There were only two or three “Trump” jokes and overtly partisan political statements were kept at a minimum, supposedly at the vigorous request of the Academy board who was allegedly afraid of losing viewers.
