We almost missed the turn into Wai'anapanapa, and I am so happy that we didn't. Wai'anapanapa is more beautiful than Pua'a Ka'a by far. We saundered around, taking pictures. I liked the color scheme of the area. It was as if some creator got tired of tropical green, and in a flash of genius, decided on more contrast, mixed the surrounding vegetataion with a dash of yellow and a splash of brightness, and painted the sands jet black. A short walk from the parking lot took us down to a black sand beach where people in bathing suits played in the water.
