Some call this place the Seven Sacred Pools, though there are more than seven, and none of them are or ever have been sacred to anybody. The place is beautiful, and I highly recommend anyone taking the Road to Hana to go a little bit further and make it the Road to Oheo instead.

This is also part of the Haleakala National Park, with a couple of intriguing trails that we didn't have time to try. A good number of people were swimming in the pools, which
brought to mind the question - where do they all come from? Possibly from the neighboring towns of Hana and Kipahulu, or perhaps they also did the long, windy drive like us, all the way from Paia and beyond.
