Today we visited Epcot, and a feathered friend disrupted our day yet again. Shortly after we arrived, we noticed a bird had pooped on Mrs. Modernlifeisgood’s shirt. She wasn’t very happy!

We were made to walk in close formation so nobody, namely the thousands of people she had never met, could see her shirt. She successfully managed to wash it off in the restroom, but don’t worry; we managed to get a photo of the damage.

Our day was spent in EPCOT. EPCOT continues to be a massive building site due to renovations that were paused during the pandemic. Noticeably, apart from some barriers being removed, not much looks different compared to last year.

The majority of walls are due to come down by the end of this year, which will signal the completion of most of the EPCOT renovations. Disney originally announced a massive upgrade program for EPCOT, but the plans have been significantly shortened due to the pandemic.

We tried La Crêperie de Paris for lunch, which opened last year as part of the renovations. We had savory pancakes, which were made from buckwheat. The filling was very nice, but the buckwheat pancake was very heavy. There was nothing wrong with our crepes, but I probably wouldn’t go again.

While there isn’t much change with the building work in EPCOT, a lot of other things have changed in World Showcase. International cast Members are back, and we no longer have the oddity of local Americans pretending they represent the countries. Also, the shops are reasonably well stocked again, last year, stock was sparse in many shops.

Another thing that has changed in the shops is that everything has become more expensive. Ignoring the dreadful exchange rate, the dollar price has gone up considerably for everything. EPCOT was never cheap, but it is now very expensive.

Lost Property Update

We are now one week into our vacation. This time last year, we had already lost two pairs of sunglasses and three hats. We even managed to be part of a lost Disney Bus.

Amazingly this year, we have not lost anything to date, not even a sunhat.
