In yesterday’s post, we highlighted some of Disneyland Paris’ many faults. However, not everything Is bad at Disneyland Paris. In fact, in most areas, Disneyland Paris is brilliant.

Why Disneyland Paris is brilliant – Day 4 2021

Before we consider what is brilliant about the resort, I have had a complaint from Mrs. Modernlifeisgood. She does not feel this latest series of blogs highlights enough about what we have done during the vacation. Allegedly her friends want to read about our latest adventures. In today’s post, we will address some of these concerns.

Our day started earlier than usual, with our youngest waking feeling sick. Unfortunately, the sickness would continue for most of the day. The suspicion is she had a case of mild food poisoning from The Steakhouse in Disney Village the night before. In The Steakhouse, she had a burger which was noticeably a bit rare. In hindsight, we should have sent it back.

Due to the sickness, we split up this morning, with Miss Modernlifeisgood exploring the parks on her own. Miss Modernlifeisgood, who turns 18 shortly, has spent the week trying to work out alcohol rules in France. The lack of fake ID has scuppered her chances of “Drinking around Disney.” The fake ID is essential, as, despite her upcoming birthday, she was given an under-12 menu at Bistrot Chez Remy the other night. I suspect she won’t be too happy if she reads this post.

Miss Modernlifeisgood had a very productive morning. Crowds have been increasing in Disneyland Paris all week as we approach Halloween. However, Miss Modernlifeisgood managed to navigate the parks, keeping her eye on actual line lengths and hitting closed attractions as they reopened. When we joined her late morning, she had managed more than we had managed the day before.

Unfortunately, the crowds in the afternoon were massive at Disneyland Park. However, we took the opportunity to explore some of the walkthrough attractions, including the brilliant Swiss Family Treehouse. In addition, the Pin Trading fanatics in our family discovered the Pin Trading Board in Frontierland was now open every day. Pin trading is still limited in Paris but appears to be slowly increasing.

We had a short visit to the Studios, where we rode the updated Catastrophe Canyon. Catastrophe Canyon is a Disney Classic but has recently had a less than spectacular Cars retheme. Cars Route 66 is hardly an E-Ticket attraction!

Dinner tonight was at Captain Jack’s. Captain Jack’s is located inside Pirates of the Caribbean and is the best-themed restaurant in Disneyland Paris and possibly within any Disney Park. We have eaten at Captain Jack’s previously and had mixed opinions on the experience, but the food was superb on this occasion.

In yesterday’s post, we highlighted some of the areas that Disneyland Paris is a bit rubbish. However, here are some alternative views on why Disneyland Paris is brilliant:

Everything is in walking distance

Although transport is available between hotels and the parks, everywhere is within walking distance. If you are staying in a Disney Resort, it is easy to have a midday break in your resort. Plus, Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios are next-door, making park hopping a breeze.

Disneyland Park is beautiful

Disneyland Park is widely considered to be Disney’s most beautiful park. In recent years, a lot of work has been spent on the park, getting attractions into top condition.

However, Walt Disney Studios does not have the same attraction but hopefully will improve during the current expansions.

The cast-members are brilliant

Cast-members at Disneyland Paris used to be, on occasions, a little difficult. However, without exception, everyone we have spoken to this week has been so friendly and helpful.

The classic rides are better!

It is widely accepted that the best versions of Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain(Hyperspace Mountain), Phantom Manor(Haunted Mansion), It’s a Small World, and Pirates of the Caribbean are at Disneyland Paris.

Crush’s Coaster is possibly the best coaster at any Disney Park

The ride has horrendous waits due to low capacity, but you are in for a treat if you can stand the wait. Crush’s Coaster is fantastic, but presumably, the low ride capacity has prevented it from being installed at other parks.

Fantastic themed restaurants

Bistrot Chez Remy and Captain Jack’s add to the park’s attractions. The food might not be the best, but the theming is superb.

It has a Marvel Hotel and will soon have an Avengers Campus

Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel is the very first Marvel-themed hotel and is fantastic. However, Marvel fans can not wait until 2022, when Avengers Campus will open at Walt Disney Studios Park. Avengers campus will include the following new attractions:-

  • Avengers Headquarters
  • Iron Man-themed renovation of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
  • Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure
  • “Mission Control” Heroic Encounter Facility

We have one more day left at Disneyland Paris; join us tomorrow as we attempt to navigate the UK Border Covid testing protocols.
