The though of travelling the world as a not so young woman for the very first time, can seem a little daunting. Before you go you may feel a mixture of feelings, including being a little bit scared and anxious. Where should I go? Am I going to be safe? Am I going to be able to get around easily? Are the people Friendly and helpful? These are questions that may come up for you. My own first Adventure off into the world totally was when I was in my 40’s, and although I was so very excited to be heading out into the world, I too was a little anxious. Now a decade later, I relish each and every journey I take and will continue to Travel on my own for as long as I possibly can. Solo travel helps me to continue learning and keeps my mind active.
In a previous post “So you’ve got the travel bug – Oh the places you’ll go baby” I talked about the need to research your destination and that if this is your first solo adventure that you should try to go to places where you can speak the language, or where your first language is spoken widely. By doing so, you will not have the added stress of trying to navigate your way around in a strange place. It’s also very important that you pick a destination that is relatively safe for solo travel for women, at least until you get your sea legs on so to speak.
I’ve put together a list of 10 great places that are solo female traveller friendly for you to consider for your first solo journey. Here they are:
- Australia
- Canada
- Singapore
- Holland
- New Zealand
- Switzerland
- Vietnam
- Sweden
- Austria
- Ireland
You’ll find these places friendly, welcoming and easy to get around. Very important for your first solo adventure.
