Louvre Museum Reopening Date - 6th July 2020

After a 4 month lockdown, the Louvre Museum gears up to welcome visitors starting 6th July 2020. Effective measures have been taken up post lockdown era to safeguard visitors without compromising on the essence of the experience.

Safety Measures in place at the Louvre Museum

To maintain maximum safety, it is mandatory for guests to carry their own masks as it will not be provided at the Museum. Independent tours can accompany groups of up to 25 people.

Starting 6th July, visitors will enter through the Pyramid with several queues according to the reservation slots, respecting barrier gestures. No paper plan can be distributed on site. Access via Carrousel entrance has been temporarily suspended.

For safety reasons, the changing rooms are closed until further notice. Motorcycle helmets, suitcases and luggage are therefore not allowed. It is possible to borrow a stroller or a wheelchair, which are cleaned after each use.

The museum bookstore will open to the public on July 6. The restaurants within the venue have been temporarily closed however, will open gradually.

Post Corona Phase - New Rules at the Louvre

• The following will be temporarily closed: collections of French sculpture from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, works of art from the Renaissance, from the 18th and 19th centuries, the Pavilion of the Sessions, the lower level of the Islamic Arts as well as the paintings French and Northern European regions of the Richelieu wing.
• During off-peak times, limited number of time slots for same-day visits will be available
• Only two entrances to the museum will be open: the Pyramid entrance, with specific queues for each time slot, and the Richelieu entrance, for visitors with member cards (Amis du Louvre, Louvre Pro, ICOM, Ministère de la Culture, Patrons Circle, etc.) and groups.
• Signs have been placed around the museum to guide visitors and avoid overcrowding. The Salle des États (where the Mona Lisa is displayed) will be entered and exited through separate doors.

Tickets for the Louvre Museum are available here. All guests are required to reach the venue 10-15 minutes before the start time as these are not flexible entry tickets. Due to safety reasons, the museum's audio guide will only be available from July 15.
