Italy’s Colosseum Is Now Open to Public After COVID-19 Lockdown

Colosseum Reopening Date - 1st June 2020

After being temporarily closed for 3 months, the Colosseum in Rome has officially reopened on 1st June 2020. However, considering it being a popular attraction for both locals and tourists, strict precautionary measures have been taken to ensure safety and hygiene within the venue.

Safety Measures at the Colosseum

Upon arrival visitors are required to wear masks and undergo temperature checks using the thermo-scanner machine before entering the attraction. Guests with temperature above 37.5°C will not be granted access. It has been made mandatory to follow strict social distancing regulations within the venue.

It is also necessary to pre-book tickets online before entering the venue. To Ensure Maximum Safety the Colosseum can accommodate approximately 600 guests each day. Upto 14 visitors can enter every 15 minutes. The same applies for group reservations as well.

To ensure maximum safety, guests have to place all objects including their mobile phones in the backpack to scan or must directly place it on the tray to be X-rayed. Visitors are not allowed to carry bottles, glass containers, alcoholic beverages, aerosols and any other form of bulky bags, backpacks, trolly or luggages.
