“On Your Feet” is extremely popular for its vibrant sets and stunning choreography. Bringing Cuba to Broadway’s shores, the musical features popular hits from the camps of Gloria and Emilio Estefan. Some of the songs that you’ll find yourself tapping your feet to, as the dancers take over the stage in a carnival of color and music, are "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You", "Anything For You", "Get on Your Feet", “Live For Loving You” and “Don't Wanna Lose You". Marquis Theatre Seating Chart

Opened in 1986, Marquis theatre is situated on the the third floor of the Marriott Marquis Hotel and is renowned for its contemporary layout and modern facilities. Since the construction of the hotel required the demolition of five theatres – the original Helen Hayes, the Bijou, the Morosco, and the last remains of the Astor and the Gaiety; New York City officials made it mandatory for the hotel to include a theater. This gave birth to the Marquis theatre, a 1611-seater venue designed by architect John C. Portman, Jr. Like other popular theatres in New York, such as the Minskoff and the Gershwin theater, Marquis Theater is also managed by the Nederlander Organisation, as part of their nine theatres in New York City.

Portman wanted the Marquis Theatre to be capable of handling any type of live performance and designed it as such with high ceilings, hidden pipes, innovative light and sound source layouts, wide comfortable seats and broad aisles. The Marquis opened on July 9, 1986 with concerts by Shirley Bassey. With time, it went on to become the home of hit Broadway productions such as “Me and My Girl”, “The Goodbye Girl”, “Come Fly Away”, “Peter Pan”, “Annie Get Your Gun” and “Thoroughly Modern Millie”. The musical currently at home in the Marquis, “On Your Feet” will play its final Broadway performance August 20, 2017.

With a seating capacity of 1,611 patrons, the Marquis Theatre is one of the bigger Broadway theaters. It features a lavish backstage region, modern acoustics and comfortable seating (no seats in the Marquis Theatre are more than 80 feet from the stage). The high ceilings appropriately hide all lighting and sound equipments, and with no pipes in view, presents unobstructed views from each seat. There is a ramp for wheelchair patrons and the Marriott’s covered entryway is perfect for arriving by car or cab, even in foul weather.

The 1,611 seats of the Marquis Theatre are divided into two prominent sections, the orchestra and the mezzanine. Seating options across the Marquis offer their own unique views and getting the perfect seat; keeping the availability, cost and view in mind; may become a task. Hence, this guide of the Marquis Theatre seating chart will walk you through the theatre and help you get the best seats in the house.

Marquis Theatre Orchestra

The Orchestra section of the Marquis Theatre has a total of 993 seats. These are spread across 25 rows, row A to row Z. Like other theaters on Broadway, row I is skipped as it may lead to a confusion with the number “1”. Longitudinally, the orchestra is divided into three sections - center orchestra, orchestra left and orchestra right.

Left Orchestra
The left orchestra seats are spread across 24 rows (A to Y) and are odd numbered. Seats begin at 1 and end at 25, moving from the aisle to the outside.

Center Orchestra
The center orchestra seats are spread across 25 rows (A to Z). Seats begin at 101 and end at 128, moving left to right.

Right Orchestra
The right orchestra seats are spread across 24 rows (A to Y) and are even numbered. Seats begin at 2 and end at 26, moving from the aisle to the outside.

The best seats in the Marquis Theatre are in the center orchestra section. Bang in the middle of the stage and right in front of it, the seats in the center are the most coveted ones, and as a result, also the most expensive. A slight gradient in the floor allows visibility to be complete as the rows progress backwards. The views from the orchestra are complete and offer the best look of the stage.

Seats in the side sections of the orchestra are cheaper than the center orchestra seats. To guarantee a good view of the stage, ensure that your seats are closer to the aisle as the furthest seats on the left and right orchestra do keep you away from the far opposite sections of the stage. However, nothing is lost since the arc of the seating layout keeps the stage centered and gives every patron a proper view of the stage. You can purchase cheaper seats in the side orchestra and be safe with your hopes of not missing out on anything.

Pricing

As a subject of the view it offers, seats in the first half of the center orchestra (Row A-L) are the most expensive seats in the Marquis Theatre. Next up are rows M-T of the center orchestra which are priced similar to the seats in the first half of the side orchestra. These are then followed by the far rows (U-Z) of the center and side orchestra.

Note:Inside aisle seats in the first few rows of the side orchestra may sometimes be priced similar to the front rows of the center orchestra.

Reviews

This is the best show we have seen in years. The music, dancing and energy are infectious. The cast was wonderful. The acoustics were top notch. We had front row seats. And it was great. A full (terrific) orchestra kept everyone clapping and singing along. The audience gave the cast a well deserved standing ovation. Don't miss this one.

This play made me laugh and cry, very touching story of Gloria and Emilio's struggles to how she became an international star. The young woman that plays Gloria has an amazing voice and sounds very much like the real thing! I thought the seats were very roomy (rock of ages seats are awful) and very comfortable. The bathrooms are located outside the theater but not really a big deal. We were seated in the center orchestra row U and saw very well.

Marquis Theater Mezzanine

The Mezzanine section is the only elevated section of the Marquis Theatre and has a total of 585 seats. The Mezzanine section is spread across 12 rows, row A to row M. Again, row I is skipped as it may lead to a confusion with the number “1”. The Mezzanine, like the Orchestra, is further divided into three longitudinal sections - center, left and right mezzanine.

Left Mezzanine
The left mezzanine seats are spread across 12 rows (A to M) and are odd numbered. Seats begin at 1 and end at 35, moving from the aisle to the outside.

Center Mezzanine
The center mezzanine seats are again spread across 12 rows (A to M). Seats begin at 101 and end at 118, moving left to right.

Right Mezzanine
The right mezzanine seats are spread across 12 rows (A to M) and are even numbered. Seats begin at 2 and end at 36, moving from the aisle to the outside.

Pricing

The seats in the first half of the mezzanine are the most expensive seats in the mezzanine section and are costlier than the side and rear orchestra seats. The prices fall as you move further back in the section, with the rear mezzanine seats being the cheapest in the house.

Reviews

The view of the stage from the last row of center mezzanine was good. My seat was mezzanine B24 which was on the right side of the stage, and I had a good view. I define a good view as being able to see the performers on the stage and not needing my opera glasses to see what they are doing. - TraveltheGlobe09, TripAdvisor

We had arguably the worst seats in the house (top row in the mezzanine, left most four seats) but they were still excellent seats and we were able to see everything. The show we saw, "On Your Feet", used the center of the stage for just about the entire show and we did not miss anything by being on the side. Great layout for a theater. - Anon, TripAdvisor
