Fortunately, there are plenty of tricks to help make your road trip smoother, such as timing your drive early in the morning or super late at night, and, of course, packing lots of snacks. Gas prices in the U.S. are predicted to fall to an average of $2.01 in December, according to the site GasBuddy.com. Actually, even this month has seen a low average of $2.13. That’s the lowest since March. So while yes, the roads might be crowded this weekend, at least getting around will cost you a bit less.

So this Thursday, make sure your phone or laptop is amply charged and, kindly, find a way to excuse yourself from the dinner table so that you can book your Christmas vacation tickets at all-time low prices.
