Thaipusam Festival

This is a day of penance and thanksgiving by Hindu devotees
held in honour of Lord Subramaniam. The festival is best
experiencedin Kuala Lumpur where the deity's jewelled chariot
is led in amass procession through the streets of the city,
culminating at Batu Caves in Selangor.
An unforgettable sight is the thousands of devotees
in a trance-like state carrying body-piercing kavadis
or ornate frames.
