A few years ago we drove to San Diego, from LA, to reunite with old friends who took us to Side Bar-- an attractive boutique nightclub and lounge. It was the perfect spot for tippling while catching up on our lives. And although a popular place the noise level is low enough to be able to hear each other speak.

Located in the campy Gaslamp Quarter, the nearly two decades-old, 4,000 square foot watering hole attracts its share of locals and out of towners alike. I love the mood-setting atmosphere--somewhat sexy, with an electric sophisticated vibe.
If you travel to San Diego, and want a cool spot for a drink, this is it.
