The $35 million Maswik South Lodge by Xanterra Travel Collection, is the first new lodging inside the park in over 50-years. Set on 4.5 acres, It's just short stroll from the Grand Canyon National Park’s South Rim.
You have a choice of lodgings from 90 standard rooms(with balconies) and 30 kitchenettes (I'd opt for the later to be able to cook at least breakfast in and save restaurant costs, especially if travelling with children).
The rooms, are highlighted by ornate textiles inspired by Native American artwork of the southwest, and colors that reflect the Grand Canyon such as rusty red, sage green, tan, and ocher.
The artwork in the guest rooms showcase studies of local fossils, after which each building is named, and a historic map of the Grand Canyon area.
Amenities include electric vehicle charging and water bottle filling stations.
The hotel is close to Maswik Lodge which hosts the Maswik Food Court, Pizza Pub, Transportation & Activities Desk, and the Village Loop (Blue) park shuttle line. New units are about a ten-minute walk from both South Rim itself and the Hermit’s Rest/Village Loop Shuttle Bus Transfer Station.
About Xanterra Xanterra Travel Collection’s stewardship of national parks and long-standing commitment to conservation and sustainability informed the building’s design which is constructed to the LEED Gold standard, and includes the extensive use of sustainable building materials, high-efficiency lighting including outdoor solar lighting, efficient mechanical systems, and plumbing fixtures.
Xanterra operates lodges, restaurants, retail, and tours at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. For reservations or for more information visit grandcanyonlodges.com or call 1-888-29-PARKS (888-297-2757).
