Why Delta Airlines will always have a warm place in my heart

If only air travel  was still the like that

By Patti Pietschmann

My father passed away several years ago.  And, I had to make the saddest journey of my life from Los Angeles to Pennsylvania to go to the funeral.  I flew First Class on Delta that had a stop in Salt Lake City.

Angels of mercy

Noticing my tears the Flight attendants came over to my seat to ask what was wrong.  After telling them, they were so comforting and empathetic. They consoled me during the seemingly endless flight and wished me well when I disembarked. True angels of the air.

Well as luck would have, two weeks after the burial during my flight back home, the same flight Crew was aboard the plane. They recognized me immediately and I, them. They hugged me and asked all about my ordeal and again comforted me the whole way back to Los Angeles.

During these frightening, coronavirus plagued times this most likely wouldn’t be a usual scenario.  No hugs or contact and no time to cater to one passenger.

Still number 1 on my chart

However, Delta continues to be one of my first choices when flying because of that flight all those years ago and because it is doing a commendable job dealing with COVID19 protocols  and safety.  Its customer service has also proven a notch above the rest when I’ve had problems.  And the flight crews, while not up –close-and personally involved, more than efficient.

I hope to think that it a similar situation as I had flying to my dad’s funeral I’d encounter caring crews, but as I said these are different times.
