Cruise news you can use by Patti Covello Pietschmann-- If you care about such things, MSC Cruises, a Swiss-based ship operator today announced the name of its next generation ship. It will be called MSC Seaview and plans to go into service in June 2018. She's the second of its Seaside-generation smart cruise ships, set to come into service in June 2018 for western Med cruises from three different ports, Genoa, Marseille and Barcelona. Its two years away but MSC Voyagers Club members can book it on July 18, 2016. “Our Company’s heritage lies in the Mediterranean and it was only natural that MSC Seaview — our third next-generation smart ship which comes into service in June 2018 — would be deployed in its historic and culture-rich waters,” said Gianni Onorato, chief executive officer of MSC Cruises. “Guests can now plan their vacation and experience everything that this ever popular region has to offer from on board one of the industry’s most innovatively-designed ships at sea.”
Like so many new build MSC Cruises’ Seaside-generation ships are under construction at Italy-based FINCANTIERI, one of the largest shipbuilding groups in the world. These new ships combine FINCANTIERI’s shipbuilding tradition, expertise, Italian flair and excellence in design with the industry-leading innovation and global vision of MSC Cruises.
MSC Seaview’s sister cruise ship MSC Seaside makes her bow in December 2017 with year-around sailings from Miami to the Caribbean with stops in the Bahamas, Mexico, Jamaica and Puerto Rico, Grand Cayman, St. Thomas and the exclusive Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.
