Hello there! I feel like it’s been a long time since I shared Austin-related content on the blog. The city that I call “home” is not only beautiful, colorful, unique, and somehow weird, it’s also a Food paradise. I may not know about all the hottest spots to hang out in Austin, but I still heart good food and take time to find the best eats the city has to offer. Today I’m sharing my 5 favorite places to dine in North Austin. Because let’s be honest, the traffic is getting wild, so if you live in the North – you stay in the North. Let’s begin!
Moonshine Cocktails and Eatery
The place is so close to my house, that I am surprised we’ve never been there until my good friend recommended it. Apparently, it’s their second location (the first one is in Downtown) and it doesn’t disappoint. High quality of food, delicious cocktails, beautiful interior, and overall great environment are only a few reasons to give Moonshine eatery a try. If you’re not sure if that’s your kind of place, pay your first visit during their happy hours and you won’t regret. There is also plenty of parking!
P.S. you have to be aware that the place is really good, and many people that live around are aware of that. That being said, arrive earlier to make sure you’ll get service faster.
Thai Lada
Even though I’ve lived in North Austin ever since we moved from Denver, CO, I’ve never stopped by for lunch or dinner. My mistake Thai Lada is not your fancy restaurant, but the outdoor patio is great as well as service. The meals look and taste like they were prepared by my Thai grandma (if I had one hehe). The flavors are well developed, and the servers make sure you enjoy every bite of the dish you order.
Asia Cafe
Here is the thing about Chinese food: when your Chinese friends tell you it’s good and you have to go – it means it’s really good and you must go! It’s a hidden gem of Research Blvd, and it’s one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve ever been to. The place is simply designed, and it may be a little challenging to find it, but it’s worth it. Even though we always order takeout , people are really happy dining in as well. Keep in mind that you have to call to place an order, and it only takes about 20 minutes for the food to be ready!
Midori Sushi
I’ve been dining in this place for 3 years and it only gets better. Midori Sushi restaurant was previously mentioned on my blog, but there is one more reason to give it a try if you haven’t been here yet: the service is really fast. The make high-quality sushi faster than some food trucks in town! We used to come here for dinner and order take out. Just recently it became our go-to place for a killing combination of delicious Japanese food + the fastest service. Because who has time for a long lunch anyway?
Copper Restaurant & Dessert Lounge
This place is still one of my favorite places to dine in Austin. I really like the decor, always friendly stuff, delicious food, variety of drinks, and daily Happy Hours specials. I am pescatarian, and Copper Restaurant offers the best Grilled Redfish Tacos, why my husband reccommends Cjilled Shrimp&Crab Tower in addition to tacos.
Not to mention creative Brucnh menu and “Mix Your Own Mimosas” offer. They are also famous for their dessert – cakeballs! Always fresh, with variety of flavors and combinations, it’s definitely a must try when in Domain.

Desano Pizzeria Napoletana
This is my favorite pizza place in Austin: I fell in love Italian-style pizza ever since I tried it in Naples, and I had hard time finding something as nearly as good as the pie I had there. Well, I’m glad the wait was over when Desano Pizzeria Napoletana was open in Austin, TX. The ingredients are very fresh, their mozzarella di buffalo is delivered to the restaurant straight from Italy every week. Most of the time you’re greeted by a friendly owner who walks you through the entire process of creating the pizza you’d enjoy. You can tell that the place takes pride in their food, and works hard to deliver the best quality they can. They also offer happy hours, a selection of wine and beer, and friendly Italian atmosphere. If you’re new to Italian-style pizza, I would suggest starting with a good old classic pizza Margarita (make sure you ask for Austinites’ favorite “cheesy Margarita”).
