March 20th is observed as International Day of Happiness or Happiness Day by United Nations and Bhutan is the country that brought the concept of Gross National Happiness in the existence and so, it is also famously known as ‘The Kingdom of Happiness.” Besides the stunning natural scenery, formed from vast vistas of steep mountains, leafy pine forests, and tranquil lakes, the enduring image of the country for most visitors is the strong sense of culture and tradition that binds the kingdom. This paradise with plenty of rare sites in this mystic and spiritual land is yet to be explored by many passionate and seasoned travellers so here we bring you a glimpse of people places and culture in this happy country.

The phrase ‘gross national happiness’ was first coined by the 4th King of Bhutan, King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, in 1972 when he declared, “Gross National Happiness is more important than Gross Domestic Product.”
All rivers in Bhutan ultimately merge with the Brahmaputra in India.
And the people are extremely hospitable.

Paro Taktsang Monastery, which is also famously known as Tiger’s Nest, is a prominent Himalayan Buddhist sacred site and the temple complex is located in the cliffside of the upper Paro valley in Bhutan.
Monastic festivals with colourful elaborate dressing and masks are an integral part of Bhutanese culture.
