Dear Taipei,
Hold up. It’s the end of the year?
Yep, it’s the last month of ’16 and I know I’m not the only one having trouble wrapping my head around it.
As usual, I’ve written an event guide for Travelog, so you know some of the best major events to check out this month in Taipei. It’s called December in Taipei, and it’s got the deets on 5 awesome events which you can write down in your diaries.

Tiger Mountain Ramble 3 (December 10)

There’s no point in even trying to hide my adoration for the Tiger Mountain Ramble. Last year’s Ramble was without a doubt one of the highlights of my whole year. What’s so special about it? Well, apart from the fact that it’s a music festival set on a mountain, it manages to deliver great music in the most ideal atmosphere you could ever hope for from an outdoor festival. Read my review of 2015’s Tiger Mountain Ramble to find out why this is one music festival you need to attend.
Sweden Day (December 10)

Sweden Day is Sweden’s time to shine in Taipei. There’s a bunch of interesting experiences to participate in, such as sampling Swedish delicacies from Ikea, and getting tripped out by virtual reality machines courtesy of Ericsson. Sweden Day will be held at Huashan 1914 Creative Park, so after you’re done you can talk a wander to the other exhibits, creative shops and restaurants on the grounds.
Taiwan European Film Festival (All month)

The European Film Festival is the best event you don’t know about. It’s actually on right now until January 22nd next year. What is it? A film festival of European films being screened all around Taiwan. For free. Free! There’s no catch, so what are you waiting for? Check the TEFF website for more details and the schedule.
Christmasland (All month)

For a country which doesn’t have a tradition of celebrating Christmas, we should give some thanks for Christmasland. Sure the overload of lights are a bit kitsch, but I actually quite enjoyed the ~Christmas spirit~ there when I went last year.
The gigantic 3-D Label Flash Christmas tree smack bang in the middle is pretty damn cool. I’ve honestly never seen anything like it!
There’s many different ‘decorations’ to catch sight of, like this crazy one you can see in the snap I took to the left.
New Year’s Eve in Taipei (December 31)

Time Square. Big Ben. Sydney Harbour Bridge. Taipei 101? Yes, Taipei 101 is the place to head if you want to reign in 2017 with a close-up view of fireworks blasting ceremoniously from the city’s tallest building. It gets crazily packed, so fair warning if you’re not one for crowds. As I mentioned in the Travelog article, you can always celebrate from afar at other vantage points.
