Ten Facts About The Optus Stadium in Perth

The fantastic brand spanking new 60 000 seat Optus Stadium Perth has just opened its doors for the first time. Costing $1.6 billion to build and seating up to 60 000, this magnificent stadium transforms Perth into a world-class entertainment and sporting arena. Here are 10 interesting facts about this fantastic new Perth Development.

2. Your maximum comfort has been well planned for with the design of wider seats (each seat has its own cup holder – and yes your maths is correct, that does mean there are 60,000 cup holders!!) plus a climate- controlled roof covering 85% of the seats – not too shabby :).

3. Get the best view with the stadium boasting two of the largest Super Screens in Australia! Plus,  feel right at home with full 4G coverage wherever you are in the stadium!

4. The Optus Stadium has the widest selection of catering options of any stadium in Australia, and with 1000 TV’s located throughout the stadium, fans will even be able to catch the action whilst buying refreshments.

5. The stadium has been custom built for ease of access and ease of use. From it’s 60 Universal Accessible Toilets, 450 wheelchair positions at all levels of the stadium, as well as 12 lifts to make getting around the stadium easy and inclusive.

6. Getting to the stadium is easy with the fantastic brand new Optus Stadium Station with no less than six dedicated platforms! Whilst Perth Stadium Bus Station buses stadium-goers to and from the Perth metropolitan area, as well as Elizabeth Quay Bus StationThe ‘cherry on top’ is that all events hosted at the stadium will include public transport in their ticketing. There is also a dedicated taxi rank adjacent to the stadium. In addition to the 6-platform Optus Stadium Train Station and Bus Station, there will also be Special Event Buses & CBD Shuttles operating during large-scale events to connect residential areas to the Stadium and car parks.

7. The Stadium design supports both the cyclist and the pedestrian, with numerous walking and cycling tracks throughout Stadium Park, placement of 600 bike racks and the construction of the Matagarup Pedestrian Bridge.

8. Your stomach has also been well catered for with 50 food and beverage outlets all with ground views plus 21 other food and beverage outlets, including restaurants with city views. You can also grab a beer with a side of fantastic views of the Perth CBD and Swan River. On the stadium concourse, the City View Cafe and Goodwood Restaurant will be open to the public seven days a week.

9. If you are after a slightly more special or private experience watching a concert or sporting event, Optus Stadium Hospitality has you covered with 101 corporate suits and 13 different function areas. The stadium can also host meetings, gala dinners, conferences and more in private function rooms on the sides of the stadium – the west side will have the fantastic river views). Fans can also book for the “Locker Room” or “Coaches Room” to be much closer to the action.

10. The stadium surrounds, known as Stadium Park cater well for all ages and stages with BBQ and picnic spots and a great nature play area to keep the kids happy. A 1000 seat Amphitheatre hosts outdoor movies, plays and concerts with the impressive Perth CBD sunsets as the breathtaking backdrop. “The Wandering” a unique 190m rock formation art piece was created by international artist, Chris Drury, and indigenous artwork and poetry have been incorporated into the landscape and wall decoration of the stadium itself.
