What is Australia Day?

Historically, Australia Day 26 January commemorates the landing of the first fleet of British Ships at Port Jackson, New South Wales (source: Wikipedia). In recent times, Australia Day signifies a day for all Australians to reflect upon and celebrate contemporary Australia and recognise our history. It is a chance to celebrate all the things Australian’s love about their country: sense of fair go, lifestyle, democracy, the freedoms they enjoy but particularly the people (source: National Australia Day Council).
