Ten Reasons To Visit AQWA This Summer

AQWA, Perth’s wonderful and long-standing aquarium offers a chance for you to get up close and personal to some of the some amazing West Australian Marine Wildlife. AQWA not only give the general public the chance to view an underwater world but also do marine wildlife rehabilitation and conservation.

Not that we think you need more incentive to visit the amazing Perth AquariumAqwa, but here are a few great reasons to get there this summer!

New Adventure Bay Aquarium

AQWA launches new Adventure Bay aquarium and activity hub. This outdoor exhibit area features a diving aquarium, kiosk cafe, new multi-purpose outdoor amphitheatre seating, children’s playground and dive hub for running its new Adventure programs: Snorkel Discovery, Treasure Hunter and Mermaid Magic.

Mermaids!

Who wouldn’t want to keep their “Mermaids Are Real” dreams alive? At AQWA you can get the chance, not only to watch the Mermaids swimming underwater but you can also meet Mermaids Amy and Ariel and Pirate as they take you on an underwater journey. Don’t forget to get that sought-after Mermaid selfie!

Shark and Ray Feeding!

Watch as the divers descend into Australia’s largest single aquarium to feed the massive rays, turtle and sharks. Feeds are daily at 11.30am in the underwater tunnel.

Shipwreck Coast

The Shipwreck Coast exhibition features all the stunning wildlife which can be found off the coastline of beautiful Western Australia and can be viewed in Australia’s largest aquarium. Experience this wonderful display of marine life on a moving tunnel under the aquarium.

Sea Turtle Rescue

Check out the newest addition to the AQWA family – sea turtles! These baby hatching turtles were washed up as a result of recent winter storms along the WA coastline and are now undergoing rehab at Aqwa.

Shark Sleepovers

You can now experience the wonder of the Sharks in a Shark sleepover. Enjoy exclusive tours and fantastic activities when you sleepover in Australia’s largest Aquarium surrounded by marine wildlife, including sharks, stingrays and beautiful fish.

Dive or Snorkel with Sharks

Plunge into the beautiful world of AQWA’s shipwreck coast aquarium and come face to fin with sharks, stingrays and hundreds of stunning fish. With AQWA’s Dive or Snorkel with Sharks adventure, you’ll enter our 3 million litre shipwreck coast (Australia’s largest single aquarium) and be lead on an amazing, in-water tour by one of our PADI qualified Divemasters. This is your chance to have a close encounter with giant sharks, loggerhead turtles, the world’s largest stingrays and schools of WA’s most prized and precious fish, like dhufish, pink snapper, kingfish, trevally and more!

Try Diving

If you have ever wanted to give scuba diving a go without going through the full certification training, then this one is for you. With no experience required and in a safe environment surrounded by schools of sparkling fish, you can experience a diving adventure lead by one of AQWA’s Dive Instructors.

DANGERZone!

The DANGERzone is an eye-opening exhibit of Western Australia’s most dangerous marine life and is not to be missed. Face a deadly line up of marine creatures that can sting, bite or wrap their prey with suckered arms to immobilise or even kill!

When you visit AQWA expect to find a huge range of scheduled daily talks and FREE kids activities.

Situated right on the water with views out over the Ocean in Hillarys just north of the city, AQWA is an easy 25-minute drive from the city.
