Trams in Whiteman park, Perth

Source: Lost Perth https://www.facebook.com/LostPerth/

For over 50 years, Perth was serviced by electric trams with 10 lines open covering Perth, Subiaco, Leederville, Nedlands, Osborne Park, North Perth and more. Fremantle was similarly serviced with tram lines connecting the Freo foreshore, beach, and city.

Sadly, these trams were phased out for buses in the mid to late 1950’s, however you can still experience this wonderful mode of transport near to Perth…

Heritage Tram Rides – Whiteman Park

Some of these trams from the first Perth Tram network, are now preserved by the Perth Electric Tramway Society, at its heritage tramway in Whiteman Park. This is the only place in Western Australia where you can still take a ride on these genuine vintage trams – and what a great experience for the whole family!

Where to Catch the Tram From:

You can catch the train from just outside the visitor information center in the middle of Whiteman park. The trams operate a 4 kilometre return trip, linking Whiteman Village (Cafe, Pottery, Print Shop, Handcrafts, Car Museum, Tractor Museum), the Mussel Pool picnic area, and the Village Junction railway station.

What Can I See on the Tram Ride:

Whilst riding on the train a lookout for kangaroos grazing, along with lots of other native Australian birds and animals in the bush lands.
