Free Bus Service Around the City Of Perth, Fremantle and Joondalup

CAT, or Central Area Transit Buses is a free bus service that operates within the city centre of Perth, Fremantle and Joondalup. You may hop and hop off these buses as many times as you want without paying any fares.

There are various route options which are colour coded to highlight the differences. Cat bus stops are clearly marked, evenly spread out and easy to find – simply hold out your hand to flag down the bus.

These buses operate 7 days a week but there is no service on Christmas Day, Good Friday and ANZAC Day.  Visit the Transperth website to view the timetable and route maps for Perth, Fremantle and Joondalup here.

Perth City Cat Services

There are 4 different cat buses operating in and around the city, Red, Yellow, Blue and Green.

Blue Cat: 
This bus travels in a North-South loop from the Barrack Street Jetty to Northbridge and is convenient for Elizabeth Quay, the Perth Train Station and Northbridge.

Red Cat:
Travels in an East-West loop from Queens Gardens in East Perth to Outram St in West Perth and is convenient for Kings Park, city shopping, the Perth train station and east Perth hotels.

Yellow Cat:
This bus completes and east to west loop and is convenient for Scitech, Watertown, the Perth train station and Claisebrook.

Green Cat:
Travels between Leederville Station and Elizabeth Quay Bus Station via City West, West Perth and St Georges Terrace.

Fremantle Cat Services:

Fremantle offers 2 different routes on their free bus service. These services run 7 days a week, with the exception of  Good Friday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The services visit places of interest in the central Fremantle area.

Blue Cat:
This route takes you past, amongst other places, the Fremantle train station, the Cuppuccino Strip, Fremantle Markets and Victoria Quay.

Red Cat:
This bus visits the Maritime Museum, E-shed Markets, Rottnest Ferry Terminal, Fremantle Arts Centre, the Town Hall, Fremantle Station and more.
 

Joondalup Cat Bus

There are 3 cat buses circling the Joondalup area which operate Monday to Friday (with the exception of the Yellow Cat which is Monday – Thursday).

Blue Cat:
Starts and finishes at Joondalup Station and travels in a clockwise direction via Lakeside Drive.

Red Cat:
This bus follows an anti-clockwise route along Lakeside Drive, returning to the Joondalup Train Station.

Yellow Cat:
Starts and finishes at Joondalup Station and travels in a loop around Edith Cowan University (ECU).
