Visiting the Wildflowers in Perth and WA

The Western Australian Wildflowers are world renowned for being one of the most spectacular displays of wild flowers for visitors and locals alike to enjoy.

From September to November, the countryside comes alive with over 12000 varieties of wildflowers. This makes it one of the largest displays in the world. Species include Pink Boronias, red and green Kangaroo Paw, magenta Paperbark Blossom and orange-flowering Banksias.

Where to see Wildflowers near Perth?

This natural wonder can be enjoyed from various lookouts and walking trails around the state of WA. Experience the wildflowers on an organised tour or a self drive/ walk. There are countless excellent spots to find wildflowers in Western Australia.

The Everlasting Wildflower Trails are a bit further afield from Perth than a day trip. Self drive a set itinery or book a tour to get the best of the wildflower experience. There are also great local day trips where you can take a stroll through wildflowers.

I asked Explore Tours Perth Managing Director, Adam Saunders for a few of his top spots near Perth…

“I love wildflower season, its one of the best times of year in Perth. Within easy reach of Perth, my favourite spots to experience Wildflowers would have to be:

  1. The Chittering Valley within the beautiful Avon Valley – only an hour from Perth and breathtaking in its scenery
  2. Perth Hills – Head to the Kalamunda and Lesmurdie area which is great for Orchids
  3. Kings Park – Who can forget Kings Park, overlooking the city, where you can walk amongst the stunning wildflowers, and where music events and more are held.
  4. Moore River National Park – Another awesome spot to enjoy the flowers and a fab day out for the family at the river estuary.
  5. Serpentine National Park – Take a wander through the national park as you take in the wonder of the wildflowers and the Serpentine waterfalls.”

Thanks Adam
