This is the first time I can recall Qantas running a promotion like this, and it’s fairly aggressive with the ability to earn up to 15,000 bonus points from partners ‘on the ground’ – i.e. outside of taking flights with Qantas or one of their frequent flyer program partners.

The full offer page is here, and you’ll need to register here to get started. Everyone should register even if they only earn a handful of points per month, as those should be doubled.

There’s a cap of 5,000 bonus points per month over three months, so the most you can pick up is 15,000 extra Qantas Points in total, with the offer ending for any points that credit before 13th July.

It seems as though any points earned from partners outside of the plane (in the periods below) will be doubled – excluding those from family transfers.

This means points from your Qantas Frequent Flyer linked credit card, Qantas Epiqure, Qantas Assure or car rentals (or any one of Qantas’ number of other partners on offer).

The bonus points will take up to 10 weeks to appear in your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.

The first month of the promotion is 30th March – 30th April, the second 1st May to 31st May, while the third is extended for some reason – 1st June – 13th July.

This is a great deal as if you’re already engaged in earning Qantas Points you don’t need to work hard to earn a bonus, and once registered, everything should happen automatically.

Double Qantas Points on Qantas flights booked by 3rd April

The second double Qantas Points offer is for Qantas-operated flights booked by the end of 3rd April, plus Emirates flights between Australia and New Zealand that are booked with a QF flight number.

Again, you’ll need to register for this offer and it’s valid for travel until January 2018, leaving plenty of time to travel, but only a few days to make plans and your booking to pick up the Double Points. Multiple bookings are eligible.

Bonus points are based on the base points earned and don’t include any status bonuses on offer, say if you hold Qantas Gold membership for example. That reduces how lucrative the offer may be but if you have plans to book Qantas flights for the near future and the pricing is right, now could be the time to lock your plans in.
