Updated Cycle Route

With only 2 weeks until we head off on our Cycle trip, all the final preparations are under way and Michael has even updated our cycle route map!

We left our homes in Australia last week, and are currently in the UK for a couple of weeks (our non-cycling holiday) to visit family and friends. From here it’s onto Vancouver for a couple of days, to pick up our bikes, catch up with some friends at Capilano, pack (again) and finally start the Cycle Trip.

We’ve already decided to change the first stage of our cycle route. Instead of head across Canada, then back across the USA (along route 66) and down Baja California (a route which we’ve previously backpacked), we’ve decided to cover some new ground, and head South from Toronto, to the United States’ deep south, then cross into Mexico through Texas.

This is just the first stage of our cycle trip, which we estimate to take about a year. Once we arrive in Mexico, we plan on taking a bit of a break and find some work for a little while, before continuing south through central and south America. Of course, this is just a rough plan and route, which will probably change once we start cycling – we’re going to largely ‘take it as it comes’ and see where the road leads us!

We’re really excited to hear from anyone that might be on our route – so get in touch if you think our paths might cross!
