Travel Safety

Here is quick list of my tips for how to stay safe while Traveling.

1. Have a copy of your passport in every bag you bring with you, just in case the airport loses your luggage or someone steals your bag. Also, keep extra passport photos with you.

2. Keep a notepad or a list in your phone of the location and contact info of anywhere you are staying while you're on your trip. You should also write down your hotel room number and your flight information.

3. Let someone back home know your travel plans. Also for US citizens, check out this website for information on what the department of state will do in an emergency that may occur in whichever country you are traveling to. It is a good idea to let them know where you will be and when, especially for long trips or trips where you won't have much access to internet.

4. Let your bank know where you will be and when so that they won't put a hold on any of your credits cards when they see a purchase pop up from Timbuktu.

5. Read up on the laws of the country you are visiting. Something you do at home may not be allowed in that country and could land you a fine or worse. For example, homosexual acts are still illegal in some countries and even greeting a friend of the same sex with a public display of affection could get you in trouble.

6. Try not to look like too much of a tourist. If you are lost, be careful who you ask for help because although some locals are very friendly, others may try to take advantage of your naivete.
