Leaving Yellowstone we headed north on to Montana’s Glacier National Park. Our first stop was the Many Glacier Hotel, although closed for renovations we stopped here to hike a couple of trails.

Right at the trail-head was a notice reminding us that we were now deep in Grizzly Bear Country and a good job too as we had our first hiking encounter with a bear along the trail… luckily he was walking away from us, it was an amazing thing to see, got the heart pounding. In fact for wildlife this hike was excellent as we also saw our first wild moose. Sadly we could not get all the way along the trail we choose as a bridge over the river had not yet been put in place for the new season and stopped our progression.
