Wayanad Nature Walk and Eddakal Caves

The Eddakal Caves are home to pectoral carvings on  the stone walls that date back to 6,000 BC. From the parking lot you access the caves by a steep walk up a long road until you get to the ticket office and then you have another long climb up a staircase to finally reach the caves.

I found the caves a little disappointing as they are not really caves more like a crevice where a rock has fallen and made a bit of a roof over the gap. The wall carvings were interesting and it was good our guide could help decipher the original shapes from those caused by vandalism over the years.

After the caves we headed out on a Jeep safari through a tiger reserve, sadly no site of the tigers this time.
