An early wake-up call followed by dressing up in warm clothes and “sensible footwear”. Remember that an early morning balloon ride consequently means that the ground will be wet. Reach the takeoff spot well ahead so you can lend a hand while setting up the balloon. Once bloated and ready to take off, climb aboard and ready to awe at the scenery you will float over. Gasp and keep your cameras at ready, or just let the views sink in for the both of you. Sunlight peeking from behind clouds – witness sunrise and a lot more. Get your honeymoon started with some classy alcohol intervention. Also cool morning walks accompanied by some warm, soothing wine is a hard thing to say no to. Bush walk to forest

How does a spellbound walk in the forest sound? That too with your significant other by your side. No walk in the park, this one, though. The Kauri bush walk will have you take a stroll – a hike, rather – amongst some of the most ancient trees in the Waipoua Forest. An already set track runs through native bush. While following the wild call, hand in hand you will reach the central point – the domain of Tane Mahuta, the oldest tree in the vicinity. Want to shake off the weariness? Rumour has it that hot springs are around the corner. So get to finding it and lay your legs to rest when you find it. For those who want to “move it, move it”, there are three trails in the vicinity: Yakas, Four Sisters and Te Matua Ngahere.
