When I travel to Walt Disney World, I usually pick a Resort that transports me to another destination through its theme. Port Orleans takes me to New Orleans; Animal Kingdom Lodge takes me to Africa; the Yacht Club takes me to New England; and the list goes on and on. Disney’s Old Key West Resort is unique in that it doesn’t take you to some far off destination. It brings the heart of the Florida Keys the 300 plus miles to Central Florida!

Disney’s Old Key West Resort is the quintessential idea of Florida vacation living. Upon arrival at the Hospitality House in the community of Conch Flats, guests are immersed in the sights and sounds of the islands. Across from the Hospitality House is home to the resort’s table service restaurant, Olivia’s. Olivia’s serves up home-style food for breakfast, lunch and dinner with the Key West influence in a casual atmosphere. They offer seating both inside the dining room and outside on the patio.

Located near the main pool is one of the resort’s quick service option, Good’s Food To Go, and the bar, Gurgling Suitcase Libations and Spirits. Good’s Food To Go offers sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, salads and ice cream treats. You can enjoy your tasty treats at the nearby picnic tables complete with cute umbrellas! You can grab some food and pick up your resort refillable mug. Another quick service option is the Turtle Shack Poolside Snacks that is located by one of the four pools.

Disney’s Old Key West has a main pool near the Hospitality House complete with sandcastle waterslide, sauna inside the lighthouse, and whirlpool spa. There are three other quiet pools at the resort, each with a whirlpool spa. There is also a kid’s pool as well as a playground located near the main pool. There’s something about lounging by the pool listening to Jimmy Buffett music that instantly puts me in vacation mode!

One of the things I love about this resort, maybe even more than the Jimmy Buffett music, is all of the recreational activities that it offers! I love relaxing just as much as the next person but sometimes you just got to get up and move. Disney’s Old Key West has volleyball, shuffleboard, basketball, tennis and pickleball courts. There is also a ping-pong table and corn hole set. Guests can rent equipment from Hank’s. You can also rent bikes and surrey bikes to ride around the resort or visit the exercise room. With all of these activities, it’s hard to be bored at this resort!

The Resort offers a variety of room types and views to accommodate a vast number of guests. The Deluxe Studio rooms are like standard rooms at other resorts but they also include a small kitchenette. The studio rooms have 2 Queen size beds and sleep up to 4 guests. There are also one, two, and three bedroom villas that sleep up to 5, 9, and 12 respectively. The villas have all the luxuries of home. The villas have full kitchens with oven, stove, microwave, a full size refrigerator and all of the kitchen amenities you would need to prepare meals. The rooms also have a dining area, living room, and laundry room with full size washer and dryer.

The villas have a King bed in the primary bedroom, a Queen size sleeper sofa and a Twin size sleeper chair in the living room. The Two and Three Bedroom Villas offer two Queen size beds in the second bedroom and the Three Bedroom Villa has two Double beds in the third bedroom. The Villa rooms offer plenty of storage space with numerous closets. All rooms at Disney’s Old Key West Resort offer either water, woodland or fairways views. The Resort offers some beautiful views of Buena Vista Golf Course.

Transportation at the resort is by bus and there are several stops throughout the resort. One great feature of this resort is that there is also boat service to Disney Springs. Board the DVC Ferry for a nice and relaxing sail for shopping and dining options.

Disney’s Old Key West Resort is a resort worth visiting and it isn’t just for Disney Vacation Club members! The resort has a laid-back style and is perfect for a vacation filled with relaxation. Disney’s Old Key West Resort is the epitome of island living and is a great choice for that Florida Keys, Jimmy Buffett style vacation you’ve been waiting for!
