You Must Be This Tall to Ride...Disneyland Resort Edition

As a kid, there is nothing more exciting than finally being tall enough to ride the rollercoasters at Disneyland! It's a right of passage to finally be tall enough to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, and the Matterhorn Bobsleds.

Walt Disney designed Disneyland as a place for the whole family to have fun together but that doesn't mean that there aren't a few attractions that are meant for older (or taller) guests. Some attractions have specific height requirements for guests, meaning they must be at least the minimum height listed or they may not ride the attraction.

If you're traveling with little ones, it's important to familiarize yourself with the ride height requirements so you know which attractions everyone can and can't ride, based on their height.

Disneyland Park

  • 32 inches - Autopia (52 inches to ride alone)
  • 35 inches - Gadget's Go Coaster
  • 38 inches - Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
  • 40 inches - Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • 40 inches - Space Mountain
  • 40 inches - Splash Mountain
  • 40 inches - Star Tours - The Adventures Continue
  • 40 inches - Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
  • 42 inches - Matterhorn Bobsleds
  • 46 inches - Indiana Jones Adventure
You'll find height requirements posted outside each attraction and signage with additional warnings.

Disney California Adventure

  • 32 inches - Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters
  • 32 inches - Mater's Junkyard Jamboree
  • 40 inches - Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT!
  • 40 inches - Jumpin' Jellyfish
  • 40 inches - Radiator Springs Racers
  • 40 inches - Silly Symphony Swings
  • 40 inches - Soarin' Around the World
  • 42 inches - Goofy's Sky School
  • 42 inches - Grizzly River Run
  • 48 inches - Incredicoaster
All other attractions at the Disneyland Resort are available to guests at any height. Remember, even though your child may be tall enough to ride, the ride might still be too intense or scary for their comfort level.

Do you measure your children based on if they're tall enough to ride a certain attraction at Disneyland? Do you have a fond memory of finally being tall enough to ride an attraction? Let us know in the comments.
