World Showcase Spotlight: Canada

We continue our tour of World Showcase and head to the other end of the lagoon for Canada!

The Canada Pavilion is home to one of the most popular restaurants on Walt Disney World property: Le Cellier Steakhouse.  The steakhouse is located in the cellar of the centerpiece of the Canada pavilion, the Hotel du Canada.  Le Cellier is a signature dining restaurant serving steaks, seafood, and regional cuisine inspired by the provinces of Canada.  Favorites include the “Le Cellier” Mushroom Filet Mignon and the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup.  Guests 21 years of age and older can enjoy Canadian wines and beers.  Click here to read a full review.  Reservations are strongly recommended at this restaurant and can be made 60 days in advance.

On your way to the entrance of Le Cellier, make sure to take a moment to take some pictures of the Victoria Gardens along with the quaint little cottage.  It’s a beautiful spot filled with many great photo opportunities.

After you enjoy a meal at Le Cellier, make sure to take in a showing of “Canada Far and Wide”. “Canada Far and Wide” is a 12-minute show presented in Circle-Vision 360.  There are no chairs in the theater so you are required to stand but leaning posts are provided.  This allows you to turn to see the screen that goes 360 degrees around the room.  Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy narrate this panoramic tour of Canada from Quebec to Montreal and Niagara Falls to Vancouver.  Canadian Idol winner Eva Avila sings “Canada (You’re a Lifetime Journey)” as you’re surrounded by sweeping views of Canada’s pristine landscapes.  It’s really quite beautiful and makes me tear up a little every time…and I’m not even Canadian!

The Canada Pavilion has two shops; the Northwest Mercantile and The Trading Post.  The shops sell Canadian hockey gear, maple products, handmade jewelry, Canadian t-shirts, and other Canadian products.  There is also an outdoor kiosk that sells , personalized leather items, Canadian flags, pins, mugs and other souvenirs.
If you love live entertainment, then you must check out the current entertainment once it returns to the Canada Pavilion as they have a history of great choices!  We will miss Off Kilter which was a  kilt-wearing, Celtic rock band performing 30-minute sets throughout the day.  They performed in kilts and played bagpipes. It was quite the sight to see! Seating in their outdoor theater is limited but there is plenty of room to stand and enjoy the show.

The next time you visit Epcot, make sure to visit the Canada pavilion for some good food and some great photo opportunities!  What is your favorite part of the Canada pavilion?
