Teppan Edo is a Table Service Restaurant located in the Japan Pavilion in Epcot. It is above the Mitsukoshi Department Store and next door to Toyko Dining. This hibachi experience has been one of my favorite restaurants at Walt Disney World for years, so I was so happy to hear it was reopening shortly after the parks reopened. While there are some differences to the experience to comply with social distancing, the experience is not lessened in our opinion with these safety measures in place.
During our visit in early September, the restaurant opened at 4pm for dinner service only, however we have heard reports of advanced dining reservations for lunchtime moving forward, so if this is a restaurant that interests you, be sure to check their hours for your Epcot park day! After snacking around the Taste of the International Food and Wine Festival, we were ready for a nice break to sit in some AC and relax with some great food right at 4pm. We were able to get a walk up right as the restaurant opened, but they did mention that we had to check in right then, and there were people waiting in the lobby for tables by the time we finished, so this is definitely a popular spot! While the entrance is up a flight of stairs, there is also an elevator to the right if it is needed.

We opted to start our meal with some cocktails and both were incredibly delicious!

We also opted to get some starters since we were planning to share an entree this visit. We got the edamame and miso soup. Both very classic and simple dishes. All of the main entree dishes also come with a Sunomono Salad to start, so that came out shortly after as well.
Once the drinks, appetizer and sushi orders are out of the way, the fun begins! A chef will join you at your table to cook your entrees on the cooktop at your table.
For enhanced safety, the chefs are currently wearing masks while they prepare the delectable delights. However, they are not only cooking for you, they are entertaining you along the way! Our chef was wonderful, from the classic onion volcano, to tossing shrimp tails into his chef hat - we were constantly entertained.

You are brought a bowl of steamed rice and then served your noodle stir fry at the table after watching it prepared. The noodles were perfectly tender and the veggies had a little crisp left but weren't too crunchy which was lovely. I love noodles in all their many forms, so honestly I'd probably be happy if the meal finished up here, but there's still more deliciousness to come!
Depending on what you and the other parties at your table have ordered, what comes out next could be different. There are steak, chicken and seafood options on the menu so you can see any variety of things. We opted for the filet mignon this trip, and when the chef begins to prepare it, they will ask you how you'd like your steak cooked. While the meat came out as a whole filet, it was chopped up on the grill for wonderful bite sized pieces, which makes it much easier to eat with chopsticks! We ordered it medium and it was cooked just like we had wanted.
All entrees come with dipping sauces, so you can make your meal whatever you'd like it to be. We preferred the ginger sauce with our steak, but there are many fans of the "yum yum" sauce as well. The steak was tender, flavorful and delicious so it honestly didn't even need the sauce.
After all our snacking around the world and this delicious meal, we were too stuffed to try any of their desserts. We did end the meal with a cup of tea which was lovely.
