ParkLives Glasgow Recap

Time seriously FLIES. We’re already on the last week of our Parklives Glasgow Series. We felt like we had only just started! This week we went back to our favourite event, FT Fit. For those of you who haven’t read our Week 1 post, FT Fit is essentially a 45 minute “boot camp” style class at Bellahouston Park. Expect to be doing lots of body weight workouts and getting those toned muscles! Since we had such a great time with the class, we decide to come back.

This time, Scott taught the class. We started with a jogging warm-up with some stretching. Then, we began. I don’t know if it was because I was still recovering from a cold, or whether Scott really pushed us, or both, because the workout was HARD. Like, real hard. We did a series of multiple body weight exercises in between sprints back and forth the field. I was breathless each time I finished a sprint, and had to immediately go into burpees or another exercise. By the end of the workout, we were all panting and sweating, but satisfied because we had pushed ourselves and burned those calories! I gotta say, I think Scott just saw that the class was all pretty fit so decided to give us a run for our money.

ParkLives Glasgow Recap:

Overall, we had a great time participating in the Parklives Glasgow 4 week challenge. We recommend this activity for everyone, including families, teens and adults. We made so many new friends, engaged with our community and met awesome ParkLives leaders. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming; even though we were completely new to all the programmes, we never felt like we didn’t belong.

OUr Favourites:

Week 2 was my personal favourite, because I LOVE playing basketball. I had a great time working on my rusty ball handling, and running around shooting those hoops. We really got to know our opponents since we played the full hour with them, and had lots of contact while on defense.

I think Angus’ favourite was our Week 1 and this week’s FT Fit, but we have to admit Week 3 Family Bowls was a close second for the both of us. We had a great time going against each other in Family Bowls, and got to watch parents show their kids the real technique so they can become future pros.

Sweaty Sweaty!

Although our part of the ParkLives Glasgow challenge is over, we plan on going back to do all the other classes. Unfortunately for us, most of the classes we wanted to take (like yoga, pilates, cardio tennis) were during the day while we were at work, so we hope that we will be able to get a day off to check these out. In the meantime, FT Fit will be going on until August 14th, so we will definitely be back for that! Or next time, go to Victoria Park on Wednesday at 6. Maybe you’ll see us, and challenge us to some 2v2 basketball. See you there!
