Edinburgh for Adrenaline Junkies: A Trip You’ll Never Forget

Since living in Glasgow, we’ve travelled to Edinburgh quite a few times. We’ve laughed out butts off at the Fringe, drank mulled wine at the Christmas Markets, and hiked up Arthur’s Seat. It’s one of my favourite places to bring people to when they visit Scotland. It’s a beautiful city with a vibrant atmosphere. Best of all, there is so much to do! I don’t just mean the copious amounts of free museums, free walking tours, and Harry Potter references. There is also another side to Edinburgh that many tourists miss. And you guessed it: the Edinburgh for adrenaline junkies side. We teamed up with Extra Mile Coaches to give you the low down on Edinburgh for adrenaline junkies, because you know we’re all about that lifestyle. So much, that we’ve done everything but zorbing on this list, so we’ll just have to go back and check that one off soon. Try to see if you can beat our Edinburgh adventure record!

Edinburgh for Adrenaline Junkies

Edinburgh may be a city known for its history, culture and museums, but for those in the know, it’s also a place of excitement and adventure. If you love nothing more than a rush of adrenaline, there is nowhere quite like Edinburgh to get your blood pumping and your mind racing.

There are a range of activities, so no matter what your taste, there is something out there for everyone — if you know where to look. Fortunately, we have collected the best activities below for the ultimate adventurer’s Edinburgh bucket list. For added comfort between the adrenaline highs, consider seeking solace in a comfortable Edinburgh minibus hire for you and your party.

Rolling Haggis Zorbing

It doesn’t get more Scottish, or more thrilling, than this. Rolling Haggis is conveniently situated just fifteen minutes from Edinburgh City Centre and offers an unforgettable zorbing experience you will never forget. Take in stunning views of Scotland while you’re strapped into a giant ball, rolling down a countryside hill at 30 miles per hour. If this doesn’t get your heart racing, nothing will.

Edinburgh International Climbing Arena

There is something about rock climbing that is addictive and energising, so if you’re in Edinburgh you should certainly pay a visit to the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena to see what they have to offer. The venue, which has been described as a ‘climber’s paradise’, is Europe’s largest indoor climbing arena. There is plenty to explore, whether you’re an experienced climber or a complete novice. There are climbing walls, rocks for bouldering and even a separate bouldering room.

The Edinburgh Dungeon

For an unusual and eerie adventure, the bravest among you should definitely consider a trip to the Edinburgh Dungeon, where you can experience the famous Drop Dead: Drop Ride. The ride takes you back in time and places you in front of a crowd of onlookers while you await your execution by gallows. You will experience how it feels to freefall to your death, with terrifying sound effects making the experience all the more realistic and terrifying.

Super Experience bungee jumping

Bungee jumping is perhaps the most notorious and adrenaline-fuelled of all activities and adventure sports. If you want to indulge while in Edinburgh, Super Experience is definitely the way to go. You can choose to jump from a height of 160, 300 or 400 feet and though you might be too distracted to take it in, you’ll be surrounded by the most beautiful views Scotland has to offer. Due to its popularity, be sure to get in touch as soon as possible to ensure you and your party have a space.

Alba Ballooning

Though it might appear to be a peaceful concept — the idea of gradually lifting from the ground and into the air in a hot air balloon — not everyone has the nerve to undergo this euphoric experience. Alba Ballooning offers rides above the city of Edinburgh, serving up spectacular views. What better way to get to know the city of Edinburgh than by seeing it from up at a great height, with your nearest and dearest by your side?

Use an Edinburgh minibus hire with driver to get from adventure to adventure

When you’re in a new city, you want to experience new places and adventures, but that doesn’t mean you should have to deal with the additional stress of getting from place to place. Edinburgh is the second largest city in Scotland and it can be a bit intimidating to navigate. More and more tourists are getting wise to the idea of hiring an Edinburgh minibus hire with driver, which can offer a degree of comfort, safety and reliability that isn’t found in public transport.

When you divide the cost between you and your party, you’ll find the option of a minibus hire is actually the most cost-effective solution. After all, we all know how the price of city transport can mount up throughout the course of a day. Not to mention, you’ll be driven around by a friendly and experienced local, who will be happy to give you advice and assistance on what to see and do while in the area.

Disclaimer: This post was sponsored and written by Extra Mile Coaches; however, we have experienced most of these activities in Edinburgh and highly recommend them.
