Review: Trespass DLX Imelda Waterproof Jacket

Oh, Scotland, how I love thee. The green green grass, the sheep, the people, the sea, the mountains. It would be the best country to live in, if it weren’t for one thing: the endless amounts of rain. Don’t get me wrong, some days I love the rain. I love feeling the pit pit pattering of drops falling on the top of my head, the fresh smell in the air. But living in Scotland, especially Glasgow, is an entirely different story. It rains a bit too much for my Coloradoan standards, and on some days, it just downright pours. Some days I’m okay with it, some days it’s just so frustrating. I just want to go outside and do something without being soaked head to toe, is that too much to ask?

Alas, it is what it is, and I can’t complain too much or Angus will get sick of my moaning. But recently,  a small miracle happened. As if the rain gods heard my silent prayers, Trespass Outdoor Clothing contacted us to see if we were willing to test their gear. Naturally, I had a mini freak-out like a fan girl would have when meeting Taylor Swift. I LOVE Trespass clothing! Their stuff is solid, functional and best of all, affordable.

Trespass DLX Imelda Women’s WaterProof Jacket

For starters, I wanted a jacket that fit into 4 criteria: 1. It would keep me dry. 2. It would be form fitting and stylish 3. It has lots of pockets and 4. It has armpit vents. The Trespass Dlx Imelda women’s Waterproof Jacket has it all. Trespass’ DLX range of outdoor clothing is especially designed equipped to handle tough conditions outside. So, what better way to test the Imelda waterproof jacket than to get it in rough weather?

We headed for none other than the highest mountain in Britain, Ben Nevis. At 1,345 metres above sea level and 10 miles of steep hiking, you couldn’t get much varied weather than this place. As we began our ascent up the mountain, everyone began stripping off their layers. But me? I felt fine, because the Imelda is breathable enough to leave me cool and fresh, even when beads of sweat were forming on my face. The higher we climbed up Ben Nevis, the windier, wetter and colder it got. We all started layering up again at the last mile. The Imelda kept me comfortable and, with some extra layers on, I felt nice and cosy even when the wind was blowing at a million miles an hour.

The mist was so thick, you can’t tell there is a 1000 metre drop behind us!

The next day, we headed off to visit Angus’ mum in Lochcarron. This time, I tested another element on the Trespass DLX Imelda waterproof jacket. Its waterproof-ness. Unsurprisingly, it was pouring rain the day we decided to go on a wee kayak around Lochcarron. That was fine with me, as it was perfect conditions for the jacket! We kayaked along the loch, rowing next to seals and braving the intense waves that were blasting us with water sprays that had my leggings soaked all over. However, my upper self was perfectly dry on the inside. When I took off my waterproof jacket, I found that the fleece I had underneath stayed crisp and dry. I can’t even stress how good that made me feel.

The Verdict

The Trespass DLX Women’s Imelda waterproof jacket is all I ever wanted in a waterproof jacket. It keeps you bone dry, it’s totally windproof, breathable, stylish, comfortable and just awesome over all. I can take the zip off hood on and off as a please, and I like the flat cuffs on my wrists so I can adjust that when needed. I have so many pockets to put all my goodies in too! I love the fact that I can wear it in outdoor adventures, but also in the city. I’ve already worn it almost every day this week, and it hasn’t even rained that often. I just love it THAT much. Best of all, this waterproof jacket is ON SALE at the Trespass clothing website here. It’s over half off! I mean, bargain right? You really can’t go wrong with this one ladies.
