Miami Children’s Museum – 4 Great Tips For a Hassle Free Visit

Visiting Miami with kids? Doing our recommended Miami highlights‘ loop may be a bit hectic with kids but a trip to the Miami Children’s Museum is a fun way to take a break from the sun and learn while on vacation. There is plenty of kids activities such as painting in the art room and making music in the permanent world music studio exhibit. There are also revolving presentations such as a pirate themed room complete with an interactive treasure map adventure going on now till the end of this summer 2015. At Oliom, we are parents too, follow these tips from our local team on how to fully enjoy Miami Children’s Museum with the least hassle:

Go on a Monday morning: Every Monday from 10am-12pm, the museum hosts “Mini Monday Mornings” especially for kids 0-3 years old. Special interactive programs specifically for this age group are presented. No school group visits are allowed at this time so your little ones can enjoy the exhibits without big kids running around.

Take food with you: There are no places to eat walking distance around the museum. There is a Subway connected to the museum but the lines are often long. There are picnic benches outside the museum perfect for eating outdoors. So take a picnic and enjoy the cruise ship harbor view.

Use the outdoor playground: There is an outdoor play area open to the public. Even if you don’t pay the entrance fee to the museum, there is nothing stopping you from taking your kids to the playground. It is also a great place to take in some fresh outdoor air in between visiting museum exhibits.

Get in for Free: Bring a veteran ID or DD 214 with your picture ID and get free entrance to the museum for the veteran only.  Then, you only pay for your children’s entrance fee. Also, the museum offers free admission every third Friday of the month from 3pm-9pm. Call the museum or visit their website at to learn more about their special events.

We hope you find Miami Children’s Museum a fun and interesting place to take your kids to!

Happy travels!
