Have you ever visited Bosnia and Herzegovina a southeastern European country? If your answer is no, allow me to ‘remove’ you from the team of world travelers who have explored almost every corner of this world. But you are not late either! Before the world questions your travel hobby make a quick tour travel to Bosnia which is a beautiful promising country that has much to offer. “Huh”!

This country boasts of historical fortress and is marked by deep gorges, turquoise rivers and lakes, the Dinaric Alps’ forests and crags. To say it all, there are many tourist attraction sites in Bosnia which will quench your Bosnia thirst as a visitor.

Below are some of the most appealing sites that will give you a long time memory in your Bosnia vacation.

1) Mostar Bridge (Stari Most)

This bridge was built in the i6th century that crosses river Nevetva and connects two parts of the Bosnia cities. Although it was bombed during the Bosnia war, it was later built in the exact design as before and has become a tourist destination especially due to its architectural design

2) Baščaršija

This historic and cultural centre was built in 15th century and has remained to be a tourist destination. Situated along the northern bank of the Miljacka River, Baščaršija is an oriental bazaar, a maze of narrow streets with small shops where craftsmen make and sell their products. Some of the main attractions within the Baščaršija include:  Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, Emperor’s Mosque and Sahat-kula.

3) Vrelo Bosne

Mention the spring source of the Bosnia River and you will be referring to Vrelo Bosne, a public park found in the Ilidža municipality in Bosnia. This is a perfect place to rest in avoidance of the city’s cues and hues during your visit. This garden park is beautiful and has clean water from the Bosnia River which is drinkable but not recommended. Vrelo Bosne is one of the country’s popular natural landmarks and provides a quiet escape from an otherwise busy city life.

4) Sarajevo war tunnel

The tunnel was constructed by the Bosnia army in 1993 and was one of the major ways of bypassing the international arms embargo and providing the city defenders with weaponry. It is estimated that between 2 to 3million Bosnian and UN forces passed through this tunnel and about 400,000 Bosnians used the tunnel as they ran away from Sarajevo which was in war. Make it a must to visit this Tunnel!

5) Medjugorje Town

The town of Medjugorje – which is located in the Herzegovina region of western Bosnia and Herzegovina, around 25 km southwest of Mostar  – is a centre host of millions of Catholics and travelers globally who visit to see and feel the presence of the Sculpture of the Virgin Mary. Due to a belief of 1981 in which it was reported  that the Virgin Mary had appeared to three teenagers, Medjugorje town has never lacked millions of catholic pilgrims and tourists every year.

6) Kravice Waterfalls

I believe that the beauty of Bosnia is found in the Kravice waterfalls. It has a height of about 25m approximately 80 ft. The best time of year for visiting is during the springtime when the fall is at its fullest and the arid landscape turns a bright green. However, during summer period the site will give you an array of refreshment; and the natural pools are an excellent place to cool down. It is also a popular swimming and picnic area in Bosnia & Herzegovina. Don’t miss to jump in these waters!

7) Joharina

Joharina is the second highest mountain in Bosnia and Herzegovina and had once hosted the 1984 Winter Olympic. Located within the mountain is the Joharina Olympic Ski resort which will offer you with a variety of outdoor sports and activities. The common ones include alpine skiing, snowboarding, hiking and sledding. It has one of the most modern lift systems in the region. A failure to visit this mountain is a great loss of full adventure!
